Someone tried to claim their sister had cancer for free art!

Yep! Someone came to me and exclaimed that their sister had cancer and that is why I should give them free art. For her. But, they gave me a picture of their new fursona instead.

Ugh, I know how you feel. My baby cousin died from leukemia. It's a hard thing to go through. She had spent her entire life in the hospital and finally passed away :( My aunt is still grieving for the loss of her daughter and only child. I mean, the whole family is, even I still, but.. A child.. There's no healing from that. I hope your sister pulls through with it. I'll see what I can do about the chibi. Do you have a chibi of your sisters character? Do you know who this girl is? This girl is the Icon/Figure for the National Cancer Institute. If they were to send me a picture of their 'sister', you could have thought they would have used a less popular image. It's insulting and horrible!

Cancer is not something to be made lightly of. I find it extremely disrespectful and insulting, especially to someone who has lost a young family member due to the horrors of Leukemia. Unless you can provide an actual photograph of your sister, whom I do not believe is an actual person, that doesn't involve her being the icon for the National Cancer Institute, I would like for you to leave the request as it is, a solid, firm no, and do not bring up the topic any more. I would have spoken to you privately and even considered other means, but now that you tried this little stunt with me, I find no reason to continue our conversation. Unless, and I demand hard evidence, you were telling the truth, I will not do any requests or trades with you, and I feel most comfortable if you did not commission me as well.

Can you believe that that is how they end it? I feel insulted. They have no remorse and don't understand how they did something bad apparently. I'm appalled that these people exist. I'm going to the Admins and informing them!
This is a few days late. Reason being is because I wasn't sure if I should. I debated about it and talked to a few people to see if I should really inform the admins. Eventually, this is my conclusion. I will not state the person in any comments or in this journal, nor will I put the link to the picture, but if you really want to know, sent me a note and I will give out said information.
Because of this, I have volunteered at the local CHOC Hospital in the Cancer ward to help children put a smile on their face by drawing them small free art. After my cousin passed away, the topic on cancer has been a touchy one. If you joke about cancer, I don't mind, nor do I mind if you state bad things about it, or good things, etc. It's just, don't try to act like someone has cancer for something free. This person obviously has no idea how horrible it is to wait and watch your cousin slowly die until finally getting the news one dreadful morning. It's a horrible, horrible thing, and I despise anyone who thinks this is funny or a light subject!

it just sickens me that people will do that. use a widely known disease and try to get either free stuff or attention out of it.
just know that there are people out there who aren't complete ass holes.

I already reported her. That's where all of these pictures came from. They're all pictures that I used in the report.
That is insulting that someone would do that, I don't know why they would think that would be even remotely okay...
I'm sorry you had to deal with this and I hope it is settled quickly. Scamming with emotions is not in any shape, way, or form okay. Not even in the smallest sense. I hope things go alright for you.
Also, just so you know I'm not weird or anything, I found this journal through clicking around. Someone I watch had posted a journal about a tracer and then someone left a comment on that journal with a link to here, mentioning about other scammers something or other... Actually, I think it was about Artists to beware of or something... But just so you know I'm not just some random weirdo... Or I might be, I have no idea.

It's alright... To be honest, I still haven't cried... Years ago my Uncle committed suicide and I sobbed over that when the same Aunt told me over the phone... but when my Aunt died and I had pretty much given up anyways because of problems I was having and I guess I still have a rocky area because of further problems... It's just hard for me to cry now because I think I just accepted it and there was nothing I could do about anything... I cry every now and then... but most the time I just... don't. Wish I could, but I don't.

I just wish people wouldn't do that... and if that is just HEAVY referencing... you should still post that you referenced a LOT. Because that's not just looking at it... that's extremely close to the original picture and thus deserves some credit. You don't have to credit the TINY things, just the big things like that. I mean like... if the paw you looked at multiple pictures then you could probably just say, yeah I referenced to figure out how it worked and not have to give exacts... but when it looks almost exactly the same... that's serious heavy duty and you should say something and give a link. But you also shouldn't trace.... And I compared a larger scale version as well and though there are some differences in the lines, it's mainly the same and the fur on the paws even points the same direction, even if it's not drawn line for line. But... you never know.
It's alright, lol, I'm just usually used to waiting a bit before someone responds so I was just surprised xDDD

Also, agreed... I think whenever it comes to art theft you should talk to them personally first and find out what's going on... Try to be polite about it because you're not going to get anywhere if you're not... Explain why you believe something and ask if there's any reason for that or anything... It doesn't have to be a huge argument and attack-fest. I feel bad for your friend, I've had that happen to me too... I had referenced dog eyes LONG time ago, just looking at pictures... Just to get the shape of the eye... Even said on the drawing that I'd looked at photos for reference. Then spent three to five hours coloring MY drawing like my character's eye and my friend's character's eye... and someone went to the page saying they'd put me on artist's beware for tracing and copying and even went to my SISTER and told her there was no way I could do that and I was a copier... :/ Needless to say, I knew who they were anyways and they did it simply out of spite that I wasn't getting along with their friend... Also, my older sister stuck up for me because she's seen me draw in person and knows I don't trace.
I didn't even know that they had tried to tell her stuff (They didn't know we were related, lol) until she told me though. She even told them how they hadn't watched me churn out a picture of big sis as a superhero over a city and she did... She REALLY gave them a piece of her mind... Made me feel loved <3
It didn't take you super long xDDD Just a couple minutes or so, haha. And you don't have to respond super quickly, I understand people have lives xDDD Just like people shouldn't have to churn out art in a hurry because things happen and y'know... chill with life ^w^ lol

lol xDDD It's alright, I can't afford college right now xp If I could I'd probably be there too because I want to take some real art classes... Never had any... only thing close was the BASIC high school course that taught me this is a circle now put the dark on one side and the light on the other side for almost the whole class and semester...
Didn't help I went to like... -counts on fingers- four or five public schools in the course of my end of sophomore/beginning of junior year until graduation. And until the family I live with now (I live with my mate after moving out finally) I went through like... 7 homes in the course of two years or so. But finally settling down... so nice. =w= I pay rent so I know I have a roof and yeah... don't have any family in the area... but on one side of my family that's a good thing. Also don't have many irl friends but that's not too bad because of more reasons.
I regret nothing 8D Except not living closer to my Father's side of the family. I love them so much ;w; But it's okay, I stay in contact 8D

I only ever moved once and I moved back with my grandma xD just her and me. It's sad ;3; my mate and I live too far away. We have to wait for at least a year until we can move in with each other *le sigh* he's so smart and ambitious ;w; I lurveh him! I'm sorry you had to deal with so many moves/schools x3x and I feel ya with the family thing. I don't talk to my dad's side of the family, or my dad xD

I talk sometimes to people on her side but for the most part avoid them and just stopped talking to my mother completely... Since then personal issues have gone down... Which is good. And I'm probably going to keep it like that for a while because simply from talking to her mother on the phone and my mother being mentioned I had nightmares for like five nights in a row DX I'm doing better now though, just try to relax...
