I'm really not sure what to make of the new movie. I grew up watching the Lone Ranger series reruns, the Lone Ranger/Zorro cartoons, and even managed to get through the Legend of the Lone Ranger. When I hit the theater this weekend to see it, the average age was above 40, and I think I might have been the youngest person in the audience. Not to mention, all the bad publicity made me expect to see a train wreck (There were 2 actually...). There were good moments...bad moments...things that made you facepalm...and some downright funny things. There were also things that made me go "Ok...that's a POTC thing..." where if Johnny Depp had been dressed up as Jack Sparrow you'd be going "Cooooool". That being said; I actually liked it...the dialogue wasn't over the top, it had a story and subplot. Yes...there is a "But".

They tried to make Butch Cavendish into a force of evil...and that failed in the face of the greed of the Railroad. As much as "Indian Mysticism" has become a cliche, they would have been better off sticking to it. Still...I liked it, but I'm also a big fan of westerns.
Including Cowboys and Aliens.

Jonah Hex...ehhhnnnnn....That still sucked.
