Always learning
Something thats been rolling around in my head for quite some time. You're going through and making a piece of art, always learning something new. With fursuits it's the same way. Each one I learn something new but know there will be errors. When Thomas Edison was inventing the lightbulb, he discovered over 10,000 ways NOT to do it before he succeeded and it continued to evolve from the success. It's sort of like that. Finally found a way to make a moving jaw! Kay, now how can I make it better? Even with the ways I have found to make something work, there will forever be more ways of doing it better. It's why I offer free repairs and adjustments because I know I'm not the best, nor am I done learning. There will always be someone better, but I still must try. I will never stop learning nor making some sort of mistake on something. To err is only human, but it's with those mistakes and errors that you learn and grow to be a stronger artist and person. Nothing I do will ever be perfect, but I will continue to learn and seek to make things better.
Btw, did you send a responce to the quote e-mail?
But I still go with my original. Seeing you make the suits that make me create more is amazing to me, and all the more to wanting to meet the one that made it. There is also the fact that your suits bring joy to those around it and whowear it. Knowing to do it certain ways in your styles makes the unique!
Long story short: I married a wise one <3
I got into fursuits because I liked them so much, but its just another obstacle I have to over come with getting outside my comfort zone. Unfortunately, my learning disabilities and comprehension issues follow me into everything I do, however, its actually helping me get better with being more confident, that I can overcome and learn. Building fursuits has been very theraputic in more ways than one.
Sometimes I forget, its going to take me much longer, than most, even with building fursuits, to get the hang of doing things. Usually, it has to do with being neat, clean, and not having dried glue bits everywhere. I struggle with that and I always have with crafts and art. But i know I can do it. I don't know how long it will take, but if I have enough time and patience from all around me to learn and build confidence, I don't doubt that I can master my craft.
Sometimes we lack that support and patience. I do know I'm alone with the fursuit building as well as learning. I ask for help and most people think I'm being lazy. I'm not, I literally have so much trouble with learning, I think asking for help is fine. I'm learning, sometimes, people will not help you, especially in something you can't go to a cookie-cutter class for. Sooo, its just me and my craft. I'm learning to have patience with myself, even. Sometimes its not others, its you, lol. I noticed I have such a distaste for my own inability to pick up stuff, quickly I have no patience developed to tolerate my own learning curve time frame.
But this inspires me to be patient and to not be intimidated by people that might be better than me. I wish learning for me was so much easier and I took off faster like most people, but I don't. Its just going to take me a bit longer to be better than most builders. THat's okay. :) Thanks for the inspiration, Sharpe.
When it came to drawing, it was always trial and error, learning more and more every time.
Now I also make costumes, it expanded my range in the art world. I make anything from cosplays like armor, props, and fursuits. In the beginning, around 2009, I didn't know much about the crafting of costumes, and made mistakes a lot, sometimes almost giving up on certain project. Over time I kept at it and kept trying new materials. But like you said, there will always be someone with more experience than me. I'm even more glad that I met people who are more than happy to offer some advise for different materials.
Now, I'm proud of the skills I have currently, but I strive to learn more all the time to see what else is out there to do. Even if I make a few mistakes along the way, its part of the learning process.
