Spinners Colab Video 2014!
12 years ago
Hey all you awesome furs!
So, this idea has been in my mind for a while, and I decided to finally go for it, and make it a reality.
From my time in the fandom, I have seen that there are quite a few awesome manipulators of spinny things ^ ^ And by that, I mean Poi, glowstringing, and staff spinning!
A few years ago, I had seen a glowstringer colab video done with many members of the fandom, and I would love to see this happen, but taken beyond just stringers, to include poi and staff spinners.
Thus, I am announcing the 2014 Spinners colab video!
A chance for all the awesome furs of the fandom to show their talent in any of the spinning realms of fun. ^ ^
2014? But its 2013?
I am listing this as "2014" as I want to release this at the beginning of 2014, so yes, there will be much time to collect footage during the rest of the year.
So, with that said, lets get into the specifics, info, and all that good stuff.
How this will work?
=================
The colab video will feature segments of different spinners showing their skills one after another.
Video's will be received VIA submissions, and edited together by myself for release at the start of 2014.
So, let's get into the even greater specifics.
Submitting Footage.
===============
So how is this going to work? Maybe you're thinking "Oh I totally want to be part of this! How?"
Pretty simple.
Record roughly a good minute of an example of your spinning, keeping editing to a minimum, and get your video files to me via email. (Video submissions can be sent to haru_ray[at]yahoo.com ) or hosted on dropbox for download (Sending me the link to the file) Basically, any effective way to get the video files to me works, just be sure that the files are a file type that I can work with (Mpeg, MOV, Mp4, etc, no Wmv). Be sure to include your FA name if possible, so I can credit you in the final video! Just keep any text off of your video submission please :)
Recording footage.
==================
Obviously, many of you already know how to record good footage of yourself spinning, but if you have the skills, but aren't quite sure on the best way to film, Ill offer a bit of advice.
For LED poi, floodlights, glowstringing, glow staff etc. It's best to not record in a completely pitch black room. While it may look super fun and trippy to yourself, it isn't the best for viewing technique through video. Having a bit of illumination to show where the objects move about the body is quite crucial in a true showcase.
That said, if you are using bright enough objects that you can be seen quite well, then by all means! Go for the dark room/dark outside. Whatever you feel gets your showcase across in the best way is perfect. :)
For Fire Poi, Fire Staff, etc. As always, be safe, and the same type of advice can be said.
If you are showcasing daytime spinning (non LED, glow, or fire spinning), be sure that we can see your moves clearly!
Fursuit or no?
==================
So obviously, as our fandom does have quite a few fursuiters in our midst, and since the question is very much bound to come up. YES, you can totally fursuit in your footage you send in. And if you don't fursuit, don't worry, its not necessary!
Or, for a unique twist, submit a combo of a bit of your in suit, and out of suit spinning. Whatever you like! Heck, spin in trippy rave clothes if you want. ^ ^
Deadlines!
==================
Ill be taking video submissions until December 31st 2013 at midnight PST.
After this point, I will be getting to work on editing together the footage.
Thats basically all you need to know!
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
And even if you can't spin (or if you can)
HELP SPREAD THE WORD! Post the link to this journal around wherever you like!
I want to get as many spinners of the fandom in on this as possible, so getting the word out is crucial!
Finally, if you need some inspiration, Check some of my faces.

I just dont want to have to store a bunch of huge 10 minute video files through the year! XD
Though, I just sent my flowlights back to HQ to get them replaced, once I get my new ones, I can practice again with the weight difference. ^.^
Also, is there a move that you want every submission to contain? Maybe half a second of a 3-beat weave, or something more difficult like a flower or watermill?
