would assume the idea would be to bring attention to a cause but its difficult because a good amount of people won't care about this problem or not like that animal for whatever reason?

I don't like MLP and the huge flood of it, but I didn't bitch and complain for it not to be on FA. People are getting really upset over something that was made for fun. I really don't get why people are putting so much effort into hating something that literally means nothing. Especially because sheppymomma actually actively tried to get this week for fun. And yet the people complaining and wanting their own week haven't tried at all. I'm all for all sorts of silly weeks, people need to stop acting like this is a sin against the site or something.

FA staff should stop being biased, and promote all of these things or promote none of them. It's this kind of crap that has made thousands move to Weasyl.

One "well known artist who recently got banned here" (can't use names for obvious reasons) just now opened the same can of worms over on Weasyl again! And people blame the FA staff for banning her? Don't make me laugh!
And why were people complaining that FA banned child porn but no one is complaining that Inkbunny doesn't even allow humans in erotic art?
As for that incident you are referring to, yes. That was handled very poorly. Now what?
As for Inkbunny, I welcome that, personally. Furry sites are for furries. For humans, the rest of the entire internet is at one's fingertips.
Regarding drama and harassment, I only go by the experiences of the people I know. I'm sure that won't include the nameless person, because my friends are not that popular, but they tend to be a lot more sensible and logical than that.
You didn't get my point about Inkbunny. Here on FA people started a massive shitfest when they banned cub shit. Outrageous were made like "it's limiting artistic freedom". And yet it is fine to limit "artistic freedom" on a much more basic level on Inkbunny? That makes no sense!
Fat Bunny Week, as trivial as it is, has a bit of meaning behind it besides fursona pride. It was an artist plug that turned into a joke, not unwarranted self importance.
Or you know, segregate yourself from the rest of the fandom with the rest of your 'friends' and continue crying quietly to yourselves because nobody comes to your pity party.
Anyway, scalies in general get a lot of flak, or just ignored, so we are used to keeping to ourselves. That doesn't mean we can't have a good time though.

Step 3. Plan a contest, event, and a banner for the idea
Step 4. Email staff member responsible for community events (currently isn't one so you can email dragoneer)
If FA set up weeks just for species, like sharks, rabbits, etc., and left other weird kinks out of it, then nobody could complain about that. That kind of universal appreciation would be a great thing!
I've been told that this week is some kind of ironic event based on past events... Very well, but the article didn't mention that. It just sounds like Fender is pushing the idea because the staff get off to it.

Fair warning, you're really not going to get very far in life without a thirst for knowledge. Everyone else that is willing to put forth the effort and have the information-gathering skills needed are going to blaze past you at every turn.

Just, why bunnies...all the time? I know for a fact if I spent the time into making a week, I would still get over looked and forgotten and not have said week I put so much work into celebrated. Shame really, we need a Malamute day...
Not everyone is going to like malamute day but plenty of people will. This community is huge and it is unrealistic to expect everyone to be happy. Since there currently isn't a specific staff member managing community events right now, it's really dependent on community volunteers to put events together and pitch them to staff.
And I believe that the real problem behind this week is the fact that you had to slam the word 'fat' into it. You may not actually understand this, but fat, for the most part (on a fetish website) is mostly associated with things of a sexual nature. I'm quite positive that there'd be less naysayers of this week (which should very well be just a day event) if you dropped the word 'fat' from it completely. I for one would not be as annoyed (or annoyed at all, for that matter) with said holiday if fat were dropped from it all. You may have this pure fascination for chubby characters that has the innocents of a new born baby, but the majority of FA sees things quite a bit differently. I don't really think that you take this into consideration that much, if at all.
Quit blaming the community so much when, in reality, the problem lies within the poor planning and execution of said events. I mean, for god's sake, you even told the FA staff to withhold the history behind this event. Why on earth did you even think that was a great idea?
I'm sorry if you feel my event planning was poor. Again, I've been doing this for fun and keeping it going only because there is a significant number of people who participate and look forward to it.

As for the staff being nothing but volunteers, look at SoFurry and Weasyl. Maybe they just got the fun volunteers? Then again, I'm more than positive SoFurry has a silly/lame holiday that's comparable to fat bunny day, but I believe it doesn't have a fetish tied to it.
And your response for the naysayers, simply saying "Well it's not like you are doing anything to make an event happen" is a very poor excuse for forcing a very peculiar and uninspired event upon the masses. Don't you think so? We get enough fat fur submissions on a daily basis throughout the year, having it plastered on our banner (The artwork, however, was done in good taste) and having it become a week long event for all to have floating around the website and recent submissions is pretty annoying and stupid for all the regular users. Again, if this were an event that had the fetish bit of it dropped, I don't see why anyone should have a legitimate problem with it other than "Lookit all these rabbits >:[". I'm shocked to see that FA still has yet to make an FA week for drawing Fender and Rednef. THAT actually would make sense to have for a week long event rather then bunnies, now don't you agree?
I'd rather that the banners were just selected every month by the community, and anything objectionable like holidays (Often specific to few or even single countries, cultures, religions, etc.) and fetishes (It's not really fair for people who don't like the subject matter) and whatnot would be barred from inclusion. Hell, even things like seasons would possibly be excluded, because if it's Summer in the Northern hemisphere then it's Winter in the Southern hemisphere. It may be highly-improbable to please everyone, but it is not at all impossible to at least appease everyone.
