Updates, and Custom Kigu Giveaway
So it's been a while, and I feel the need to do an update.
My birthday just passed, and now I'm 22. Not really interesting but I feel obligated to say it. I've been super busy with conventions and haven't had a chance to post anything, but somehow, I've been getting followers! Thank you for following me, and I hope to be internet active again really soon! :3
Also, here's a giveaway by tunny for a free custom Kiguru: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/4940015/
Fursuits
PM was worn to Metrocon, and I got a lot of positive feedback even though she's not technically done. I might post some pictures if I can find one where my sister isn't been awkward, lol. She still needs lips, redone elastics, and I'm not too happy with how the ears came out, but my sister is, so I guess it'll stay that way...
We're working on building up a stock of molds, including jawsets, realistic canine and feline claws, and maybe a tongue if we can manage sculpting it without it looking awful. I'm also going to attempt to do a mold for foam footpaws; I had this idea about a year and a half ago, but never had the time or materials to do it. Since we have a little bit of money from the rapid-fire cons we did, I'm going to finally be able to start building a library of molds! If this works out well, I'll also be adding horns to the list.
There's also a secret project I'm working on. Me and Kira weren't happy with how her head came out, and we're already gotten better at fursuits since we've made Ray. I skinned the blank a while ago to find that the resin hinges had broken in the one time we wore the suit out. (This is why I only use metal hinges now!) I've had this blank sitting around for a while now, just slowly being refurbished as I feel like working on it. Then I realized, I can use it for a project I've had in mind for almost two years! (I have so many awesome ideas, just not the money to make them come to life!) I'm really excited for this one; as far as I know, no one else makes this style of fursuit yet, hence the secret! I plan on this suit being done by Shadocon (October) so aside from molds and such, this is what I'll be posting. If you already know what I'm working on, please keep it a secret; I want this project to stay my project!
Conventions
I'm doing Mythicon in Orlando in less than two weeks, then I have a short break until October before Shadocon in Tampa. I hope to have both a bunch of molds and portfolio stuff done by then, because I don't have another confirmed con until January. I will, however, be going to Dragoncon as a guest at the end of August. I've never been to Dragoncon before, and I haven't been to a con that I wasn't selling at in a long time. Hopefully it'll be fun, and hopefully I won't be stressing too much about not getting ANY work done during the weekend...
Cosplay
As you can probably tell by my stupid grinning icon, The Warden was a huge success! I've gone to two (maybe three...) cons already and everyone loves it! If you were at the Dead Dog Dance at Megaplex, you most likely saw me trolling about. I'm going to slowly be updating the costume to make it even better, starting with the pants, but I hope to have a picture I'm proud enough to post sometime soon! I'm also going to start an “ask the character” type GIF blog soon with The Warden, so I'll make a post once that happens.
My next cosplay projects are both for Kira, and I'm really excited for both of them. First up is going to be Zack Fair for Shadocon, who already has most of the work already finished.
Happy Mask Salesman was fun, but I don't think I'll be finishing that one anytime soon.
Shop
One of my big goals is to start keeping stuff in stock in my store. That's my biggest hurdle right now, I can't make things fast enough to keep inventory in my store. I don't make much money off the store, but I think it's because there's never anything in stock. I make the big majority of money at cons but then I have to pay off bills that have been sitting around in-between shows. Hopefully, the break between now and Shadocon will help me figure out a system to keep stuff in stock in the store. Does anyone have any suggestions? I need help organizing!! I'm also thinking about switching over to storeenvy with a custom domain name. Artfire isn't really giving me the traffic I'm looking for...
School
I'm going back to UCF this semester and I've officially changed my major to Environmental Sciences. I wasn't really learning anything useful in theatre, and I want classes where the grading is more... objective, if you catch my drift. Classes start in a week, and I don't have my scholarships in. I've very worried about paying off this semester... I don't think I have enough, even if I use all the money from Mega/Metro and I'd rather not use that money at all for school. Keep your eyes out, I might have to have an emergency tail sale...
I think that's everything I've had on my mind. I hope I can be more active soon. Thank you watchers, I really appreciate that you guys put up with me!
