End Of An Era

For ten years, there was a place online where you could make yourself into a furry cartoon, and play with other furry cartoons. It was the only place that I knew of where you could do this.
As of September 19th, that place is closing its doors forever.
Disney's Toontown has decided that it was no longer worth the effort to keep maintaining a leaky boat. For years now, it has been plagued with poor decisions, hackers, bad behavior, you name it. It apparently became too much for them, and they have decided to pull the plug.
If you want to know what it was all about, all play there is completely free until they close their doors:

It will be missed by me, at least. I stopped playing a year ago, when trying to accomplish something became nearly impossible with the number of noobs trying to get into places they had no business being in.
Ah well....it was fun while it lasted.

If only KI would make something like a toontown, where you can actually play a toon, instead of a human.
Second biggest mistake was not closing security loopholes. They felt it would cost too much to fix those problems, and nobody was using them, anyway....until someone discovered them, and from that moment all havoc broke out.
It became very clear and whoever they had running it knew nothing about how to manage it.
Lately, I've been a bit worried about Disney's choices, so to speak. I think my largest gripe is the cost of just going to Disneyland itself (for me, just a 90 minute trip by air & Air-Hopper bus ride away, or an all day drive to get to by car). Last time I was there was 1999, just after my double hernia surgery and Cal-Adventures was under construction. It was $72/day. Now it's just under $100 / day..., which in itself is just INSANE!
Makes me wonder if the ghost of Eisner's-Past have begun to coalesce?
