what if Santa really exists?
“And it is still true, no matter how old you are -- when you go out into the world, it is best to hold hands and stick together.”
I was thinking today as about Santa and why I don't get presents anymore now that I'm grown up and it suddenly dawned on me.
When you're a kid it's easy to be good. Brush your teeth, eat your greens, tidy your toys away. Simple so you are good all year and Santa rewards you. Easy. But maybe as you get older the good level increases so instead of eatibg greens, it's stuff like. Paying your mortgage or donating a kidney (incidentally if anyone was thinking of donating a kidney maybe have a look at this journal here http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/4980046/ )
So yeah maybe it's just a case of no one is good enough these days as adults to get Santa to give them something?
I've been feeling really shy about my art recently, so much so that I've been hoarding artwork. I've actually got 6 commissioned pictures I've finished but haven't uploaded because I've been feeling really self conscious that I feel like I'm always hogging the limelight. I feel like I'm always stealing attention away from more deserving artists and just generally being an attention whore. I seem to get commissions fairly easily which I'm eternally grateful for but other better artists struggle to fill their slots and it makes me feel bad because I don't think I deserve even half the attention I get. So that's why I've been a bit quiet the past few days. Sorry.

Given what's typically on TV and in the news now-a-days, I'd be willing to believe that...
And if you are worried about other artists struggling, just give them all the support that you can and encourage others to help them out if they can :3
Any way, seriously, have you ever wented a more popular artist to post less just for you to get more attention? So why someone else should?
*hugs*
When he isn't?! D:
You dont want to be selfish.
He has to be real.
It cant be true .
He is real wimper
And above all else: keep up the good work <3
Oh and gemma honey you deserve all the attention you get and more *picks you up and cuddles you*
Also when joo says this part:
I seem to get commissions fairly easily which I'm eternally grateful for but other better artists struggle to fill their slots
Well, all innuendo aside (teehee!) I think one of the definitions of good art is whether people value their work enuff to pay for it.
Mebe your taste in other people's art is just really peculiar, because when you link people and try to claim "this person is better artist than me" I get to their page and usually just crinkle up mah nose and think "I not like dis other art though, bleah!" xD So you know mebe it's just a taste thing? Everyone likes different things and but the everyone that is here means that yore art is appreciated.
Yoo shoodn't feels like you are stealing attention when yoo post, you should be able post every bit as often as you wnat too. And maybe if you are more popular part of that is because you publish work more regularly. I think that is something that audiences really appreciate. :3
You have given away lots of free pieces,
used money from commissions to help others. Give encouraging advice.
I would say all of that is being very good. ^_^
Also San... Sant.. Santa is na real? *sniffles and gets a teary sad face*
Seconded you have the cutest art out there. One day I hope to get a pic done by you. I love grubby. I know I don't talk a lot but I do know tons of furs that love your work. So plz post your stuff. There is one good thing about the fanndom very few people judge other furs and those that do are jerks and ............... they should be banned. But that's my opinan. Take this from a writer that gets more hate comments then good. So please post your stuff -holds up a grubby- for grubby sake. You do have wounderful work and I love it and many more furs do. Plus the gem comic is the best.
Yeah I know you get it easy because you got the right people and the right friends. For me I went off the path of who I truly am. I cant make people accept me because of my art. Like I can change the sun or the moon, we all have our limit. But at least our friends are there to support.
You work hard on your stuff and there should be no reason why you shouldn't be able to show it off.
Fuck everyone else, Gem. lol
Aww Gem ... your art is just fine. You're not hogging any attention. I have been wondering how you became so popular so quickly, but I think you just have a personality that delights and inspires. Maybe there are people who draw art that looks more "professional" (whatever that means), but yours is getting very near that point, if it isn't already there. What's more, you draw a lot of free art of people's characters, so of course we all love that. And when you draw, there's always something cute going on in the scene -- it's not just a picture of the character standing there and looking straight at the viewer. (Unless it's a reference sheet, but even then you put cute into it somehow.) You also have an ongoing comic story with a phenomenal number of installments already published, in which you draw cameo appearances of a whole lot more people's characters.
I guess if I were going to write a guide about how to be successful on FA, I'd point to you. Be outgoing and friendly, practice a lot, do a lot of drawing, draw lots of people's characters for variety, do a lot of gift art and requests, and post at least one thing per day, whether it's a journal or art (you usually post at least one journal and at least one drawing each day, excepting when you're away on a trip or something).
Also, I don't know much about santa...I never was very good growing up!!
as for your arts you is deserving of ALL the praise and attention you get. Your art has a certain Je'nes Cest' Quois about it that makes it MORE than just lines and colors
Finally *pops the potty mouth soap in your mouth for a second* No bad words. or Santa will skip you again.
You're more popular than me as an artist, because you put out top quality work each and every time, and very often, and I'm too lazy to pick up my pen :p
Don't feel obligated to bring yourself down to make other people look better. Its other peoples choices for the most part that is the reason why they don't work hard at art.
Same goes for any life situations. If you are working your butt off every day at work, while a coworker spends most his/her time playing games on the computer, Do you think it is right for you to slow your pace, and start playing the computer, just so he/she doesn't look as bad in your bosses eyes? Would you risk losing your job, because you being a hard worker might make him look like a slacker? I sure wouldn't.
You do your thing you do sweetie. Don't you worry about being more popular than anyone else. I know i loved comissioning you, and it was worth every penny, because you sure as hell worked super duper hard on it. And i knew, and could practically guarantee you would pour your heart and soul into it.
I know personally, I Would be ecstatic if you made arting your full time job. You could definitely do it too!
