This is a desperate journal going out to anyone opposed to the callous disregard of life that is going to result in the euthanization of every single hyena at the Berkeley colony at the end of the year if there is no place for them to go by that point. These animals were studied for years there to give a better understanding of hyenas, but now that the research isn't seen as important the funding has been cut and by law it's perfectly acceptable to just kill all of the animals. If you have any money to spare at least some of the animals might be able to be saved from such an ethically wrong fate.

If you are like me and are scraping by on every paycheck you can still spread the word, seek out charitable entities, and in general try to get more attention to this cause. We have youtube, twitter, facebook, innumerable social networks to get attention with.

I just don't want these hyenas to die after the atrocities of 'research' committed to some of them over the course of the program. Enough hyenas were already euthanized to be picked apart by researchers greedy for knowledge in past years. It would be tragic if the surviving hyenas met the same pointless fate because no one cares if a hyena dies.
