Why I am an Equine Fetishist
Hello my loyal subjects,
Last week I discussed why it is okay to have your own sexual preferences, and as an example, I used one of my own (being an equine fetishist). Of-course this prompted the question, "Okay... so, Why equines?" from many readers. So I'd like to try to address that question here.
First, there is the look.
I've always been most-attracted to short-furred animals, because I like being able to see the lines of a well-shaped body... and horses and zebras have very graceful lines, Its not hidden under thick piles of fur. I also think they're adorable.
Second, there's the demeanor
I've heard that calling horses "gentle giants" is cliche but its true. OOC, I grew up in a suburb outside a small city on a dead-end road. There was a competition-size equestrian arena on my street, and I worked there in the summer as a kid to make money to buy comic books. It was where the wealthy people from the city kept their horses (can't keep horses in a city, really) and it gave me a profound respect for equines. They're just so sweet! Horses are ridiculously strong, and could kill a human pretty easily, but they don't - they just want to be friends. They are the embodiment of reserved power.
Finally, there's the stereotype
Much like how foxes are clever and beautiful, and rabbits have lots of babies, horses have several stereotypes associated with them that I like. We often see portraits of kings and chivalrous knights mounted on dapper steeds, perhaps even armored steeds, in battle regalia. Proud and strong, head high; horses are very noble animals. And that they will charge into danger with their master, their fates intertwined, is an inter-species bond without parallel.
And, of course there's the horse's noted stamina and sexual virility, and the size of his 'gifts' ... all good things, for a lover. I even like the shape. (which is not true of any other feral-shaped 'equipment')
What about zebras?
I sort-of see zebras as just horses with an interesting paint-job. While I recognize that few of the points above parallel to zebras (they are far more difficult to domesticate, and therefore do not have a rich history with humans), they sort-of fit a parallel image in my mind when anthropomorphized. Like... if I imagine the stereotypical horse, he'd be a white knight. A zebra might be a tribal warrior.
And what about ponies?
Ponies are like horses except smaller. :)
Why no-other species tho?
Its not necessarily that I don't like other species, I just like equines so-much more, and there are so many equine 'sonas these days, that I feel no need to compromise. I don't have time to give proper attention to all the equine furries that I have met, let alone adding other species. That's not to say I won't be friends with other species, just that my *sexual* preference is reserved for equines.
No exceptions?
There are a few exceptions. I'm not as strict about females. A really cute cougaress might tickle my fancy, or even a dragoness, or something else, but these usually have other factors associated with them too. I also like deer (male and female) particularly around the holiday season, and will probably be looking for some towards the end of the fall to get some art with.
Anyway, those are my thoughts. What's your species preference, and what do you like about them?
I'm all ears (literally),

Though I personally prefer bulky scalies. i like how they seem savage
Did someone called me?
My choice to be a fennec came later (my first 'sona was a red fox), and had more to do with the fact that fennecs are just awesome. ^.^
I can find it in myself to like pretty much any anthro species out there, buuuut I do prefer a few.
For one, lizards. Not such a rarity on FA but in person reptiles are exotic and beautiful animals, it's that feeling of 'something you never see' I suppose. Plus reptiles are the cutest little darlins <3
I also have a thing for sexual androgyny and blurred gender stereotypes, e.g girly guys and manly girls. That goes over to my human preferences too though x3
I've been curious about the love you give equines and I appreciate the explanation. I hope now too that after these journals that you'll be less bothered for your preferences
Not to say I'd enjoy canines exclusively, though. Most things with a fur -and several with scales- are very much to my liking. Never been a big fan of feathers, however.
For me the problem with Avians is the beak. It has to be the least-rewarding kiss possible. They can't move it very much, and you might cut your mouth on it, and its all hard and dry...
To answer your question, I've always liked shepherd dogs, personally. I like their thick coats, and I like that I don't see all the bones and muscles and tendons underneath. For me, hiding all the working parts (which I don't really want to see anyway) gives them a vaguely magical look, like they move purely because they want to.
So that's just one thing, but I think it makes my point about the random nature of the thing, since the same trait that you like in a (fantasy) playmate, is the same reason that I wouldn't like them. ;)
I'm going to expand on the more obvious, sexual characteristics of them and list my own reasons.
Stereotypically they are very well hung, and usually are also fairly muscular. For me, this kind of goes hand in hand with my love of size play. One reason why I like size play a lot is because even though I'm a switch, I tend to lean on the more submissive side and as such, IRL, I'm 6'2" and there's absolutely nothing about me that's feminine (I deeply wish there was :/ ) so in an RP sense and artwork sense, I love size play because I can finally be in situations where someone that's larger than me can dominate me.
And I'm with you there in terms of the actual shape of their bits. Aside from horse cocks and human cocks, there's really no other feral shaped bits that I find attractive. Sometimes dog bits are hot, but only when they're not drawn as super-realistic looking ones; that just totally puts me off.
And though I'm a little more open to other species, horses will always hold a much higher preference than any other. (As apparent by the YCH auction I've commissioned from Weskers where I'm the sole recipient of 4 other horse's attention... *cough*)
That's enough with the sexual stuff though.
For me, I really love equines as well. It's actually getting to the point where I'm thinking about creating a secondary fursona that's an equine. I just really love how equines look in general. They do seem to appear rather graceful but still hold that certain masculinity that I find very comforting for some reason.
Anyways yeah that's my two cents X3
And yes, I agree with your love of sizeplay. I will have a journal post about that probably in a few months. (I have a list of topics.... dorky, I know, right?)
( )
Still, my absolute favorites would have to be foxes, especially swift foxes, and rabbits. Swift foxes are small and fast, which I find attractive, and they have something of a reputation for being more curious than is good for them, which I can relate to. The fact that swift foxes are apparently female dominant is rather attractive, too, I must admit. I've always had a fondness for dominant women. As for rabbits, little and fast comes into play with them, too, and I admire their status in mythology as tricksters. They're dinner for damn near everything on the planet, and yet they continue to not only survive but thrive, and I can't help but find that admirable. Plus, when it comes to furry characters, I simply have a weakness for very large ears on any species. Rabbits have wonderfully soft fur, too, or at least the domestic ones do, which makes them all the more fun to pet.
I'm quite fond of mice, too, mostly because they're adorable.
Seems like most people agree with you (as do I).
Well I do have female parts, and 4 gorgeous mares.
MoonDancer: Equine Herm
Runner: Equine Herm
Nightmare: Equine Female (usually turns her lover into a equine female)
I do tend to go to the females of horses cause i love mares and other female species. I tend to go to canines when it comes to male artwork cause i love me some fembois ^^.
I also like Roos and believe they should get more love in this fandom.
I always find them to be graceful, agile, mysterious... They can be very silly and cute, but also solemn and focused.
Horses are ridiculously strong, and could kill a human pretty easily, but they don't I've only seen horses IRL a handful of times, and have been too terrified to even try to pet them from behind a gate. The sheer size terrifies me. And being someone with anxiety disorders, I get the feeling that would set an unfamiliar animal on edge. :X
If someone wants to just be in a pic with me, I do every once in awhile participate in a group YCH. Keep your eyes open for that. That's the easiest way.
But I kinda understand you're point. I'm pretty sure everyone has that species they're biased to. For me it's fluffy scalies (and I don't mean wolf/dragon hybrids).
I'm just biased towards fluff in general which is why I kinda want to play with your tail
Yay for equine grace, pride and beauty <3
#2: Well.... Your Highness looks mighty scrumptious, if I may say so, so..... Submissive Zebra, with a fennec overlord? Totally worth the effort into such an alter-ego~.
Let me know if you make him and I'll see what I can find for artists. I need to warn though: I am a bit resource constrained (money-wise) at the moment because I'm in the process of moving to a better apartment, which is going to be expensive, and I have to replace some furniture/furnishings.
But just tell me when you're ready and I'll see what I can afford <:)
Besides, such things cost money, and I'm not one to want to cost others anything just for things like that. I'd imagine getting 'bent' to such will is plenty reward, already~. :D
I'll draft out some ideas and see what I can come up with, at least between my job and home searching.
Again, sorry for the confusion, good sir.
what fennic couldn't use a Chestnut having around ready to be used??
But I do love the explanation, here. :)
I totally agree with everything you said. While I personally identify myself as a wolf, I idolise horses and see them as being god-like higher beings full of grace and immense strength.
Big, strong, chubby centered, thick thighs, long flowing wavy hair that ends in curls, and a big chubby um...Haha ya know owo.
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/14728548/ up to you if your interested owo would be simpler.
I'm not interested.
On another note, I'm not sure why you replied to my comment instead of the main post, did you mean to? Your reply really had very little to do with mine,
Hahaha. It was more relevant to Ehteras's opinion than my own.
Horses are strong, but friendly, not violents like humans :/
Horses are sweet ^w^
(Sorry if my English is bad :s )
Also majestic too
Whats your opinion on
fox-owl hybrid witches?
have their own quirk and style to match their personality xd
Lorna would be more interested in being friends with Etheras
rather then a bedroom playmate and is a
very shy vixen and modest ^///^
(sorry for responding months late)
(It's alright, I'm pleased you responded at all)
such as salamanders, Anole Lizards, Okapi, Tapir, Donkey, Giraffes, Moths & Butterflies
I guess my second favorite anthro species would have to be mythological creatures such as unicorns
(sorry dragons!)
I like to eat them and will usually become aggressive and moody around people who identify as ANY kind of lagomorph fursona be it full on furry or a neko.. I have had nothing but bad experiences with rabbits so I do not trust them >:T
Beyond that I think your explanation of why you're an equine fetishist would be an accurate explanation of my own like and love of equines. (with potentially personal differences of course X3)
Also as a side note regarding the "gentle giants" cliché. It's all the more true the larger the equine is, smaller ones (like ponies for example) have a hell of a 'tude if you're not ready for them. I've come to a small hypothesis that they're so gentle because they know exactly what they can do, but don't wanna hurt anyone and lose out on all the yummy treats! At least that's my best explanation for my turkey of a horse.... -w-
(Been a fan of your character for a long while, and only just noticed the link to this on your SoFurry page.)
My art style were not that great either back in the day, I would have entirely wasted your time anyway.
Maybe someday I can perk your interest, meanwhile I will remain an anon fan of your character that blend between everyone else of the same grade~
Stay sexy <3
Canines are my favorites. Lots of power in a small body, rescue, carting, detecting, law enforcement, disease detection. many things, i've been around canines my entire life.
Personally I can 100% understand everything about preferences. Just like for me, I only have certain fetishes with specific species or features. Like I have a preference for dragons, partly because of the variance in all their features such as genitals, fur, scales and what not, but what really gets me is that they have this mysticism because they don't exist in nature, so imagining how different ones would behave, whether feral or anthro is fascinating because they are such a blank canvas compared to real animals. Makes for great creative opportunities.
Also, I can't lie, the points you listed are what make equines so appealing for me too, especially when you see the sunlight reflecting off their fur, following the curvature of the muscles underneath... Yeah I am a sucker for the same things you are I'd say, except you have had more experience being around them than I have, so for that I might be a little jealous. X3
And I also very much agree with the horse genitalia being the most visually appealing of the feral genitalia, and the easiest to imagine and relate to outside of human genitalia. Though in the land of fantasy, dragons do get drawn with some very interesting shapes. Oh I forgot to mention, whales and other cetaceans have genitalia that is appealing at least to me, but otherwise, there isn't much else outside of complete fantasy.
Really love seeing your sona and look forward to continue seeing them. Though I hope you don't blame me for having some fantasies from time to time when your artwork pops up. I just can't help it. X3
