You can post their name, the link to their profile, include screenshots of chat/incident, plus your side of the story. If for people to see to avoid scamful or distrust worthy artist and commissioners.

Call out journals by their own ToS and CoC are not bannable. Now, ironically I've had many people hate me for doing the 'call out' response except most of my call out responses was to someone wrongfully calling me out.

Sort of an example. Some popufur who didn't speak English very well commissioned me. Then after I finished it he said he couldn't pay me because his bank account was hacked and he had no money, so I went a step further and inked it and handed it to him and said "Hope this makes you feel better" in which said popufur made journals saying that I was an asshole harassing him and threatening to kill him over $5 and that I made him want to kill himself. (Yes, this is EXACTLY how it happened. I have no idea how any of what I said lead to the latter, but it did.) By CoC I could of gotten him banned for the fact that I even had proof that this is not what happened at all, but didn't. All I did was post a journal after getting spammed by all his fanboys what actually happened and, like Aaron has seen, people will HATE you for making a journal that NAMES a person in it if it's naming them in a negative light. The only reason he had for taking it down was to appease the people who don't seem to realize sometimes people need to be called out on their shit.

I'm terribly sorry this happened to you; and yes, it's people dual nature, they act all nice and dandy but they aren't really your friends, or even nice people to begin with. In any case, glad you found out who was the guy/gal who posted it; but don't call out names and so; it may get you in trouble and the damage is already done; however maybe not calling out the user but instead giving a heads up to anyone who's interested in knowing who the user is so they won't be tricked.

It's something you're going to have to deal with, sad to say. Piracy of all sorts will -always- be here. 90% of the people who are going to look at those pictures online probably couldn't afford to buy it from you anyway, and, if anything, it's free advertising for your commission work for those that might have been able to.

Piracy isn't an easy thing to stop without getting your fans/watchers in the mix, which isn't a good thing.

Criminal is a very, very strong word to use, especially in this case. In my view, the leaker's actions were unfortunate but I don't think he broke any law. He's definitely a bit of an asshole for uploading the folio to an imageboard against Aaron's express wishes, but I don't think he broke any law for doing so.

Also, I think you're painting furries with a broad brush here. Unfortunately, some of the most maladjusted folks of any group -- furries included -- either are the loudest or do the most outrageous things, hence they end up tarring the group as a whole.

As a matter of fact, yes he did break the law. Copyright law is -very- specific in cases like this. It is no different than uploading a movie or music to a sharing site. Unauthorized distribution of copyright material is a criminal offense, plain and simple, and that's exactly what the person in question did.

This has absolutely nothing to do with SOPA (which you clearly know just enough about to prove your stupidity about the subject and how it does not relate to this issue), this has to do with an asshole ripping off a person's hard work. It's theft, any way you fucking slice it, and if you think otherwise, you seriously need to reflect on your attitudes towards people and art that takes days of work to produce. Believe it or not, some people actually rely on the sales of their art as their sole source of income, and to have it illegally distributed like that is a proverbial kick in the teeth. Think about how you would like it if someone stole something you spent hours, days, weeks, or even months making. Sure, you're not a prolific artist judging by your gallery, but put yourself in the shoes of someone who is.

I'm pretty sure Aaron still has the original files, and I'm guessing that on the files that was distributed, there is still his name on it. Barring that, his art style is pretty distinct, so anybody that sees his work knows its him. So I'd be hard pressed to say that the artwork was outright stolen. Yes, it was distributed without his consent, and whoever did it is an asshole for doing so because he (guessing) did so... well, we don't know exactly why he did it, just that it was done. It's entirely possible he gave it to a friend, who decided to distribute it.

Piracy isn't so cut and dried. It's unfortunate that it's distributed, but to say that Aaron is losing sales because if this is a touch disingenuous. Face it, there are people that are going to find a way to get this for free regardless of what measures Aaron takes. However, there are people that exist that get the pictures on an imageboard, and then come to Aaron and say they wanna pay him for it. So in theory, this is one sale that Aaron may have gotten that he wouldn't have gotten otherwise.

I bought the pack dipshit, but at best giving out a 15 dollar pack is not something you can get interpol involved with.

It's breach of copyright, not theft. How did the guy get Aaron's folio pack in the first place? He most likely bought it from him.

Digital artifacts are a two-edged sword: cheap and easy to distribute, but also easy to copy and
re-distribute. About your only real recourse is to sue the guy for copyright infringement... and it's
probably not worth it. How can you prove you lost some income, and by how much? Unless there's
an outlandishly huge penalty, and you get some of it, and the guy can actually pay up. Probably ain't
gonna happen. Welcome to the Digital Age. At least you were smart and put in some kind of unique
watermark into each copy.

I hate when this happens. All that work put into it and then someone carelessly uploads it so all the freeloaders can get the image packs for free. I saw it happen over on PAWSRU.ORG with your feline image pack a long time ago. |:<

Sure you can be angry at the one specific guy, but eventually someone is going to do it. People who actually want it will either pay for it or find some way to rip it, there's no way around that. However, people who would pay for it aren't going to go rip it instead, they will still continue to pay for it to support you.

If anything it will draw more attention to your work and in some cases people who rip it may feel compelled to pay for your work.

This happens in many other scenarios as well most especially with games. More upmarket games are often torrented as their prices are quite high and you can never really tell if what you're buying is right for you. I sometimes do this, and if I do like it, I pay for it. If I don't like it or think the price isn't right, I may not play it or wait until a sale comes out. Especially demo's seem to be a sight we don't see much of anymore.

There's no avoiding it, but these days it's no more of a bad thing than it is a good thing. So don't let it bother you.
