Questions About PayPal
I know I've asked something similar before, but now I'm actually able to get a PayPal (well, almost). But before I invest in it and use it for commissions, I was hoping to get some information about it. I wanna know what I'm getting into and what to expect, so any clarification on these questions would be lovely:
1.) How does it work?
2.) Is there a fee for using it?
3.) How do I get money from the account to the bank account linked to it?
4.) How to I know id the money I'm paid goes to it?
That should about do it. If I have any more, I'll post them. Sorry if this should all be obvious, I'm not exactly up in the know how with this sort of thing xD

2. there's only a fee for paying through paypal with a credit card (and i think international fees but dont quote me on that)
3. theres an option to withdraw money from your paypal to put into your bank account, it takes about 3-5 days
4. check your bank regularly, eventually you'll see a deposit made.
2.) Does a debit card count as a credit card?
3.) No fee for doing such?
4.) Okie dokie

Sending money is very fast. It goes from the sender's bank account to the receiver's PayPal account. If the receiver wants to transfer it to his/her bank account, it takes 3-5 days in the US. Otherwise, it can stay in the PayPal account and then be spent by sending to others with PayPal accounts. This is not 'virtual', but real money that comes out of your account.
I've always found it easy and safe, and have it linked to my main checking account.
BTW... if you use it to get commissions, I would add the service charge to the price of the commission. I always send an extra 3% to the receiver to cover that fee, anyway. Just seems fair... artists dont make enough anyway
My only remaining question is what classifies as goods and services? I'm assuming receiving money doesn't counr?
No, we really don't. Especially those of us who don't charge an arm and a tail
Receiving money, like when I sent something to a certain saber tooth tiger for a new TV, as an individual who is helping another, can be done under the free program. If I were hiring the saber to do something for me, and paying for it through PayPal, that would incur the service charge.
Again, I think it is all on the honor system. I would hate to see PayPal get rid of the 'free' service because they are not getting their cut on the other, especially if it is possible to recoup that by simply adding it into the amount charged.
Glad to be of some help, Stripes! I really like PayPal... it is the only way I know to get money transfers done between banks without having huge fees.
I'm setting up a PayPal now, I'll let you know if I need more assistance. You've been incredibly helpful~
Well, perhaps I could ask one more thing? When people ask me for my PayPal so that they may commission me, what information must I give them?
Okay, maybe two. It says to complete my account, I must now buy something. But i don't wish to purchase anything. Do I need to do this to use the account?
And.. go on ebay and buy something cheap.
