Wrist/Life/Cat/Slump update
Ehh this is going to be a big boring and kinda depressing journal to post, apologies to those who read through it all. But all this stuff tends to effect my commission work flow so it's also to keep people updated on commission delays.
1: Physio.
My wrist has been sore on and off this past week, and it's been rested/not really drawn with for about 8 weeks now. Even my physio is getting frustrated with the overly-long healing time. He thinks it may be the tissue between the joints of my wrist, and he's looking into getting an ultrasound done on it and potentially a steroid injection. He's also looking into the costs of those as he knows I'm not the most financially fit person. I should be able to get the ultrasound bulk billed (free) but idk about the injection. Basically the injection would really speed things up with the healing process. If I can't get(afford) it then it'll just take longer to heal is all. He'll give me a call in the next week or two with the info.
I'll see him again in 3 weeks, so it's not such a drain on my bank to see him anymore. I've only seen him twice the past 4 weeks, because there's not much more he can do in person for me now.
In the meantime I'm simply to still do my daily exercise, stretching and strengthening techniques and once it's feeling ok do some trial sketching and see how long I can sketch for before it starts feeling tight. I'll update again when I find out about the ultrasound and injection and if I get it or not.
2: Life.
So this morning we got a phone call and email from the real estate. We're meant to be renewing our lease and staying another year, and that was all going ahead, we got the papers in the mail the other day. But the landlords circumstances have changed, they've asked us to hold off on signing the forms for a bit, and we're having a house evaluation inspection tomorrow. So I think maybe our landlord has had something major in their life happen which requires a lot of money and is considering selling. So I don't know what's going to happen from here, the real estate says he'll keep us updated about what's going on. HOPEFULLY if they do sell up and an investor buys, we may not have to move out and can just continue renting to a new owner. Several friends have told me this happens a fair bit actually because finding new tenants can be difficult so they just keep who's living there.
On the other hand it could mean we have to find a new place! This is both an exciting and scary thing for me. I wish the owner luck on getting any good money for this place, the rent is so cheap because it's kinda shabby and right next to a railway crossing. I do like living here, the crossing doesn't bother me, I enjoy cheap rent and i'm close to a train station and shops. However our housemates boyfriend should be moving in with us early next year, and one of my boyfriends friends from the other end of the country is considering coming to live here. SO it could be a blessing in disguise and we may have an opportunity to find a nice bigger 3 bedroom home and we should still all be able to afford rent on account of 1-2 more people.
It still costs a lot of money to move though, so hello drain on all our banks XD I'll have to keep you all updated on this house situation too as I don't know what's going on or when. If the owner does sell up, I don't know if we have to move and don't know when either. So yeah. Moving house would obviously be another delay on commissions >.<
3: My Cat
I brought my childhood cat home a couple months ago from my parents. I haven't been able to have her since I moved out of home like 5 years ago, and she's 13 years old now so I'd like to spend some more time with her while she's still around. Our previous housemate had a cat, and in this house we're allowed to have a cat. I didn't bring my cat here when we moved in though cause her cat was very timid and shy and my cat is kind of a bitch to other cats XD But she moved out a while ago with her boyfriend and so I brought my kitty home :3 She's been having some coughing/sneezing fits and she threw up a couple times a few weeks ago. She hadn't thrown up again until today, but her sneezing/coughing was getting worse. I also don't think she's seen a vet in like 4 years. So I booked her in for a general checkup at a VERY highly respected vet today and mentioned the issues she's having.
Overall she seems mostly healthy, and the vet thinks her issue might be the thyroid. She's a bit overweight and tends to be really hungry. When she has thrown up, it's within 10 mins of eating and it often looks like she hasn't even chewed it. I think she may sometimes eat way too fast and make herself sick. Also she sheds a hell of a lot, licks herself a hell of a lot, but never coughs up a hairball. So we're wondering if that may be behind her sneezing and coffing. We are coming into spring now too and she sits next to the window a lot so it might also be pollen.
Anywho so I had her get some blood tests and a thyroid test done today to see if we can figure out the problem. I'm also going to feed her in smaller portions so she can't gorge herself and I try to brush her and help with the fur as much as I can. I'm anxious to see the results, I hope she's ok. If it is her thyroid she can get treatment for it, it'd be an ongoing treatment though. Or I think he said there's a kind of injection she could get for it, but it'd cost a lot. So we'll see how it goes.
$132 later today though...and I took her to the vet right after physio which was $60 and rent comes out tomorrow XD Suffice to say I am yet again mostly broke :p I get paid in a couple of days though from the government while i'm injured so I should be fine, don't worry :3
4: Slump
Also an update on my art/personal slump. I'm slowly clawing my way out of it. I haven't felt quite so horribly depressed the past couple of days and I've been working on art a bit. I haven't felt like livestreaming though, sorry to my regulars. Just kind of need some time to myself and no pressure to work (when I livestream I feel bad for taking really long breaks because I feel the need to entertain. I mean it's good motivator when I NEED to work on a commission and I'm not injured or depressed, but yeah. Not as good when I'm using my left hand and not feeling good).
I do have all up 18 commissions on my plate though. Some half or mostly completed, most not started (the left handed ones I'm doing one-by-one and working on my older originally-right-handed pieces on the side when able). Some of my main commissioners haven't gotten back to me at all so I can't work on them anyway. I've been doing more sort of...researching. I've been watching and reading tutorials and stuff and practising, i'll post a sketch dump later once I fill the page. So that has been helping inspire me and get me out of my slump and I started applying some of those techniques and things i've learned to the current left handed piece.
I have a busy week ahead of me though. Today I spent at the physio, at the vet and cleaning the house ready for the house evaluation tomorrow.
So yeah, tomorrow we have the evaluation and I don't know how long it'll go for. They're not coming until about 4-5pm though so I'll probably spend a good portion of the first half of the day tidying. Might try to do some art too.
Wednesday after 4pm I have a friend coming over for her birthday (I don't feel emotionally up to going out to karaoke and dinner with a large group, as well as it costs a bunch of money I don't have, so I invited her over :3) but I might do some art earlier in the day.
Thursday I have an assessment with the government place, I just need to take in all my doctor certificates and physio receipts and stuff as evidence of my condition and tell them what I physically can and can't do atm. It's because my last doctors certificate didn't exempt me entirely from work because I can do SOME things (like type and do the dishes) but can't do any heavy lifting, but there's been all these issues about processing the certificate so I need to go in person to explain my situation.
Friday is seemingly free so may do art that day.
And then Saturday and Sunday I'm going to a pop culture convention, helping a friend film stuff for a youtube channel. He bought mine and my boyfriends tickets :3
We have a friend of my boyfriends staying for a week from the other end of Australia, so they'll be going out and doing lots of things most days so on some of those days that are "free" I might go out for a bit to get out of the house and actually DO something. I haven't left the house much the past few months aside from getting food and going to appointments XD So I think it's good that I have a busy week ahead of me.
*huff* Ok XD I THINK that's all, sorry for boring you all. But I feel bad for not posting much and not drawing much the past week, but with my wrist flaring up again and my cat being sick and now the ideas of maybe having to move @_@ Just all getting a bit much. It's getting very frustrating and I'm getting very impatient.
However, I am feeling more comfortable and confident with my left hand each day, so I'm going to try and work on commissions as much as possible and get that list down to a small number after the con. And perhaps once I'm done with the current batch of PWYW left handed pics I might open for another small amount (like, no more than 5). If after all that my right hand is back in action, I'll continue with that line of work. If it's not, I might open for set-price left handed painterly-style pieces rather than PWYW.
I'll eventually get through that list of requests too but my finances keep going a bit up and down with stuff hitting me in the face, and if we DO have to move I may be needing yet more money.
Such is life I guess!
TL;DR: SORRY FOR BEING SO BORING PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SKIM IT IF YOU'RE A COMMISSIONER AND IGNORE COMPLETELY IF YOU'RE NOT XD

Your health is more important than drawings I think.
But OI am glad for a life update.
thanks :)
just take your time and try not to hurry the healing.
but yeah she's short hair and it feels like her shedding is neverending!
That said, if she's not in pain, it's probably not the issue.
And good luck with your slump :( I'm not tops with words all the time, so luck is all I can really wish.
Just wanna get my wishes out there, though.
although when the door is closed it's not that noticeable.
With your wrist, I really hope that you can get that steroid thing cuz even if you'll heal, for your sake I'd like you to heal faster :/ It must suck having that constant on-off pain/feeling uncomfortable throughout the day, not to mention I know that you want to be able to art again with it. Have you tried doing literally nothing [except your exercises] with it for a few days to see if that helps? I don't know what that might do... Oh! Just had a thought: So when I was little my mom bought this weird wax thing, kinda like a spa treatment she took home essentially, and you pour some water and put the wax inside and it heats it up. When the wax is mostly liquid, you dip your feet or hands in it and it kinda relaxes your muscles, smooths your skin, and generally is just fun to play with anyway XD I don't know what it's called and even if I did I don't know where in the world you'd buy it or if you could both because of the different countries and money situation, but you could ask your doctor about it and be like "So some guy who likes my art suggested I dip my hand and wrist in wax. He crazy, or does that stuff actually relax the muscles? If so where do I get a thing for that cheap?" Just for whatever it's worth, there's that super random info XD
As far as your slump goes, glad to see you're climbing out :3 Your art is improving, and it's very visible, and you have TONS to be proud of :D I'm sure getting out of the house more will help you too. Maybe have a date with David, and just relax and enjoy some time together? :3 Maybe that'll help.
My mom's CRAZY allergic, and I'm also a bit allergic to cats, so I've never had one and don't know how to help there, but you seem to have it all under control so I'm not worried~ Best of luck to the kitty! <3 And if you end up moving, I hope it's an awesome place :D Moving is always exciting hehe Well wishes and positivity your way~
Davids friend is still here, he leaves Monday. I've had a good few days though. We all went to the zoo yesterday (I'm a member now so I get to go in for free now :3 well, "free". I paid for the membership, but the next time I go in i'll have spent my moneys worth and if I go in more and more i'll get more than my moneys worth. I don't have to pay to go in every time now) and then I had a friend come over whose birthday it is tomorrow and we just chilled and watched stuff. Today David's taking his friend to the museum in the city, and it's free for me to go there too because of my concession card so I'm going to go there too. Get some inspiration. Then I'll come home and do some arts. And I have that convention on the weekend. So all in all it's been a pretty good week.
My cat seems to be going ok now. I think the sneezing and vomiting have been 2 separate problems. I don't have the results yet, but I had to buy her a new batch of meat cause the other went off and she was just suddenly throwing it up everytime I fed it to her. I switched her back to dry food and she hasn't thrown it up at all, so I think it must be a bad batch of meat X_X Also she hasn't sneezed or coughed at all since I made the vet appointment, but yesterday and today have been super windy and my hayfever is acting up and so was my friends, and she has sneezed a couple times today. So I think it's pollen, which I read it can be a common sneezing issue with cats. We are entering spring and hayfever is everywhere and she sits next to the window where a draft probably comes in, so yeah. She seems perfectly fine now that I'm not feeding her the meat o.o
