Mini-Contest Winners!
The contest is over! Thanks to everyone for their excellent entries. Judging was awfully hard, so I added in some runners-up to help acknowledge how incredibly creative people were.
Snow Leopard
WINNER: azaiya
Comments: I really thought the idea of transformation-as-therapy was intriguing…plus she went all-out and actually did fanart and a fan story!
RUNNER-UP: hexen109
Comments: The idea of unexpected leopardification as a ticket to successful public speaking is loads of fun, and it's an idea that offers lots of room for pokes at academia and science.
Dragoness
WINNER: Mikakitty
Comments: Poetry is always a good way to impress an old English major, but I also liked the sad, mature vibe of the idea. I don't do sad and mature very well, but I'd like to get better!
RUNNER-UP: Fringedog
Comments: I don't do enough with fantasy settings, and a Jekyll/Hyde story about a dour warrioress and her newly awakened irresponsible dragon half seems rife with opportunities for good old-fashioned fantasy fun!
Vixen
WINNER: Sabitha-Suki
Comments: Reversing the polarity on me; just about everyone thought this gal was a fox-turned human. That said, I kind of like the idea of a free-spirited kitsune cursed to a practical human body due to dealings with a businessman of all things!
RUNNER-UP: Fringedog
Comments: Another Russian reversal, I like the idea of a fox girl's human disguise faltering in public. Good thing her beau
Badger
WINNER:Mookyvet
Comments: I don't do a lot of fantasy, and the thought of a badger spirit bickering with the original owner of a proud woman's body sounds like a recipe for shapeshifting mayhem and fun!
RUNNER-UP: Rimme
Comments: A soccergirl falls prey to dodgy protein shakes in the quest to escape mediocrity. Ther eis a possibility I may have a thing for athletes transformed by bad supplements; I do not care.
Zebra
WINNER: PaulRevere1991
Comments: Becoming what you are trying to conserve…is there any greater irony?
RUNNER-UP: Guilrel
Comments: Jealous rivals sabotaging a mayoral campaign with zebra DNA…the oldest political trick in the book!
Winners will get a PM from me later with details, and the stories will start going up not long after
