Rushed Delivery Slots Idea
Wen’s Rushed Delivery Slots. Ok, so you guys know that I am always swamped with commissions. I only take slots that I know I can handle for the week. Still, every month I have a pile of notes all saying the same thing. “Please add me to your slots.” I feel bad saying “no” to so many people but I don’t have a choice. People are asking me to do more work than I can comfortably accomplish for the same pay. Well, here is your option. Please please PLEASE remember I am doing this mostly as a deterrent to the “Add me” notes, and not a way to get more business. I’m already busy, trust me.
I will open up 3 extra slots a month. No more than that, just 3! These will be my Rushed Delivery slots.
Here is the Deal: When you choose to get into the Rush Deliver slot I will take your commission the very next spot I work on. Example: If I’m working on a slot, once I finish it I’ll start on yours. If I’m not working on any at the moment, you will be the first in line.
Here is the Catch: Everyone knows that when you order something and decide to take the "Rushed Delivery" option you are going to pay more. When you ask me to "add you in," what you are really asking me to do is alter my entire week's schedule to fit you in. In essence, you are asking me to work overtime. It is only fair that I am compensated for the extra time and effort you are adding to my workload. So the fee is $150 on top of what your commission will normally cost. The Rushed Delivery fee will be paid upfront and is nonrefundable. I repeat, the $150 will be paid upfront and is nonrefundable.
If you want to cancel your commission I will be happy to refund your commission fee, however, depending on how much work has gone into the project I will take what I think is fair for my time. Example: We have already decided on a theme, pose, setting, etc. I have already started the online work stage of the commission and you decide to cancel. I will take out what I think is fair for the art that I have completed to this point. This is nothing new and stands true for all my commissions.
I really appreciate you guys asking if I’m available, and I WISH I had enough time in the day to take everyone. The sad reality is that my time is limited and I have other things in my life that demand my attention. I am trying to find a way to bring more options to everyone who wants to have a commission done by me. I know the commission slots fill up fast and you're not always online to get a spot. This way, at least there is still an option to get that "Last minute" spot you want without having to hope to get there first.
I refuse to add on a ton of extra work and pump out art that is not up to my standards and skill. 3 extra slots a month is something I feel I can comfortably accomplish. That is less than 1 extra slot a week.
I think this is a good alternative to me having to say “I'm sorry there is nothing I can do. Good luck, I hope you get into the next round of commissions.”
What do you think? Feedback is greatly appreciated ^^ Thank you guys so much for all the love and business that you have given me. I’m trying to make room for everyone I can. I hope to work with you all someday!

Heck I think you'll be surprised still how many people are willing and wanting to pay that.
By this i mean your art is imo worth more then what you currently charge. And with higher commisson prices you dont have to charge a high slot price. :)
Stick to your guns Wen, there are alot of artist who charge double you're prices for standard non rush slots! At the end of the day, you're not changing your overall prices just giving an option for those who can't be patient or want to pay there way in. Its not compulsory, so go for it :3
You've come a long way and improved a ton.
That said, it's true 75$ is a bit steep and maybe might be worth re-considering in the future but since this is a test run and nothing more good luck with it - to be completely honest I'd probably save up and pay for a rush slot if it stays around.
I know you'll figure something out. This is a bridge every artist must build and cross and it usually cracks a few times before it's a perfect model. Best of luck!
If you want to be fair to yourself, let the market decide by charging more or having an auction. You'll earn the same in the end and you'll work less for it.
