Sorry, I have been working on FA for around 50 hours out of the past 60, including a brief forced stop for an incipient migraine.
I would love to have responded to everything and feel guilty at the backlog I have, from many other people too.

I think what Cap meant was that this feels like a big story stuffed way back on page A-11 because the editor felt like being political, when it should have been front page news. Of course, it really doesn't matter if people read the whole paper, but who has time for that?

I've already discussed it with Myr at this point in IM. In addition to his word on the matter, he sent me a selection of information that confirmed many of my suspicions about the debacle and how it all unfolded.

Meaning whatever you want it to mena, honestly. I would presume they all had higher priorities at the time, and their hands full trying to catch all the shit that was hitting the fan.

I have no lack of appreciation for the time and effort you and most of the rest of the administration put into this issue, and I do realize how swamped you all have been i dealing with it. Nevertheless to be blunt I have no appreciation whatsoever for the abandonment of reason and logic that the entire process was indicative of, and that ultimately lead to a grossly unsatisfactory conclusion.

I've heard some very unsettling thingsabout your own involvement in this debacle, and while I'm not about to pass judgment or drop the hammer based on rumors and speculation, I want you to know that I find the outcome as well as the route taken to get there unacceptable from a community and administration of which I expected better.

Please don't take it personally - I don't intend it that way.

I think that one reason why so many people who wanted to ban to stay was because of the dislike they have for those who draw cub porn.

I'll be honest, I think people who get off on cub porn are the lowest of the low in the furry world and we want them, not to be persecuted, but ostracized and kept on the outskirts of out "society", just like we do with child sex offenders. We want those people to know that they are not welcomed and are unwanted. But as I have said before, this isn't our community, it is the community of those who run FA. Although it may seem like we, the users, are welcoming baby furckers, it is the administration who is doing so. What does that say about them? Is it any wonder why people are leaving? It's not because they are offended by the art, but because they don't want to be in association with baby furckers. Believe it or not, some artists actually do professional work. When you are freelance, your reputation is everything. Artists who actualy care about getting work are leaving because Fur Affinity is about to become a professional liability for them! God, why can't people understand this. Are people so narrow minded that they can't see the bigger picture?

I sure would like to know more details about the staff who have left FA. Maybe the roomers are true that some higher-ups at this site are sympathetic to cub porn because they like it themselves! Perhaps the inmates are running the asylum.

Allowing cub-pornographers to be here is the same as welcoming them. Okay, so if cub porn is filtered by default, maybe that is a form of ostracizing them, but still, they are going to be allowed. Maybe default filters is a means of taking responsibility for freedom.

And by the way, have you noticed just how absent the responsabity that comes with freedom is from the discussion boards? Why do people think freedom of expression is freedom of consequence. Why this attitude of "if you don't like it, fuck off!" It's pure selfishness, IMHO.

What we have is another classic example of the culture war, but I never in my wildest dreams thought it would ever be in the furry community, given how permissive it is. Once again, you have moral relativeists vs. moral absolutists. Mark my words, we have not yet reached the bottom of this slippery slope.

I think this debate is pretty much closed on FA now that the admins have spoken. Those who are going to leave, will leave, but those who are going to stay, will stay. Never the less, this "war" is far from over. No matter how much freedom pedofurverts have, they will still be viewed as the lowest of the low by at least half of the furry community.

It's really laughable, the ones who want to save furry from having a bad rep, an be mainstream, whatever that means, are the very ones who are giving it the bad rep.

Agreed 100% with the exception of my expectations from the furry fandom... with all the drama and warring of opposing sides in any debate, it's little wonder that something like this would split it down the middle.

As for the admins, from what I gather, both Marthaen and DragonMyr left primarily as a result of the issue and ensuing drama/mudslinging. The primary supporters of the Cub porn were possibly Pinkuh and Damaratus, both of which said(?) they dislike it.. as for Dragoneer, he just demonstrated some very poor reasoning and judgment in the matter, and failed to factor in the notion that so many people would leave, or the impact it would have.

If you want to know more, note me, and I can arrange to send what I have... as important as it is, I don't feel comfortable posting it in the public eye.

Here Here, wanted to let you know your last entry was absolutely excellent in highlighting some of the consequences the FA administration never considered when they started to 'deal' with this issue.

I will be staying, but like you, with all those folks leaving, FA really has lost a lot of the appeal by which it originally drew me in. This was a much 'cozier' community, in that I could come here to watch some of my favorite artists without the insane size and could actually take the time to comment on some of their submissions, something I find overwhelmingly difficult to do on DA. But alas, the administration of FA has dealt with this in as poor a manner as could be from the word go.

FA did have something special going for it before this whole debacle unfolded. true that, I don't even care to imagine a WORSE scenario. It's really sad though, I loved this place for the exact fact that it is a smaller warmer community, or was, unlike the BIG galleries that often feel so cold (and not to mention are full of trolls)

Well, FA has its share of trolls... as is evident in how they all come crawling out of the woodwork to feed the flamewar every time a controversial issue like the cub porn one comes up.
