And this way you can assume that time doesn't change all at once, that is theoretical since no one has done it that we know of ;3

you could try doing a cause-and-effect whenever time change. Like switching back and forth with the orc and the protagonist like having one scene showing the orc in the past doing something or making a decision that will change the future and then switch back to the protagonist that is in the present noticing a results of something the orc did in the past that change the present like the Statue Of Liberty changing into a statue of a female orc warrior that have her breast hanging out and is wearing battle armor and is holding up a sword or the protagonist is talking to a friend who is still human that is wearing regular clothes one minute then the next his friend is more muscle tone then before and have green skin and is wearing only a small ragged loincloth and the same would goes to everybody else like he would starts seeing mothers at a supermarket shopping with their kids then they change into orcs (kids include) the mothers now wears loincloths (some are completely naked) and have their breast out or some teen-agers playing the park while riding on their bikes and skateboards then the protagonist see orcs riding on skateboards and bikes (that would be a weird sight to see).

In a computer game, an orc leader is having issues against the enemy forces, unable to defeat his foes, who seem to get up from where they fall, and his allies are desecrated by the enemy, who would place their groin's over the fallen orc faces. might be better for the orcs to do small gurilla warfare type attacks then with the time travel change the ancestory of one enemy general at a time untill the best on the humans side becomes the best on the orcs side. Maybe even some temporal agents start to catch on and they must fix that one too.

so slowly but surely his own time line is rewritten as more and more orcs replace the human ancestors and he becomes more orcish one assumes and those around him become more orc like as well to various speeds and degrees ^.^ it could be a very fun slow time change thing.

That's interesting. I threw up the prompt on a whim, but the discussion made me think about fixed points... We'd have to figure out why he can see the world changing but still be affected by it... But yeah. Each fixed point being changed, he sees things become more and more different.

Well the time bubble technology is good but its imperfect. He's still effected but its supposed to point out the changes and give him the acuity or maybe he didn't have time to activate the full defenses or maybe he's sort of a bystander trainee and he's watching events helplessly.... or possibly he's one of the inventors of time travel and as he changes into an orc more and more he progresses to his lab seeing the other people around him becoming orcs and the world shifting more and more until he finally gets to his lab now a massive slab of orc tweaking his emerald nipple and he realizes with a grin on his green lipped tusked mouth that he was the entire cause of this and he's the one who goes back in time to cause the orc-world. A time paradox in other words allows him to be the one who realizes what has happened. Story ends with him going back in time to ensure it happens.

Actually, I like an aspect of that idea... The person is in a temporal shield as time changes around him, but he wasn't always in that shield. Some changes would leak into his life when he was vulnerable.

The world around him is changing, do you want him to stand by and do nothing about it? Also, he wasn't born in the shield. Even if he stays there the rest of his life, before he entered the shield he's vulnerable to changes in the timeline.

Personally I'd agree with you, as I've done a lot of RP's with temporal agents having bracelets that shield them from the rigors of time, from changes in any way so they could keep track, but this story needs a good reason for the protagonist to both remember the way things were, but change with each timeline shift.

1 Why would they need such a ability. I can only see such a thing happening if all the mythical creatures went extinct like in the modern times we live in today and the orc is a sole survivor of its proud noble race..

2 if the orc were to alter the past in such a way how would he go about doing that.
I think thats where i'm stumped most. I can see the after math of history changing so much. technology vanishing slowly and being replaced with magic.Humans becoming mythical creatures due to family ties becoming distorted and changed.

I was talking to my friend who was a human one minute ago only to see him become a orc the next. Similar occurrences happen world wide and next we know the human race has been replaced by furries and a were the new extinct race called the furless. Great scott the orc's have just created a magical website called Furless Afffinty, its a nightmare. >_<

1) Any culture that feels as though they were taken advantage of, repressed, misused or mistreated would have the motivation to go back and ensure that they came out on top, or at least were treated more fairly.

2) Perhaps there were key moments in history. Let's say you could pin down the first few attempts at slavery and massacre those attempting it. If you did so with today's technology in the past, it could even appear as magic to those way back when. It could become an ultimate taboo, one that no one ever forgets... And if they do, more smiting.

I don't need to keep Orcs in a mythical setting. Consider the "Living Truce" series: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7442166/ It starts in the medieval/fantasy era and goes all the way to a sci-fi future setting, its just a world where they didn't die out. Presumably orcs would need to be as advanced as humans to take advantage of the time travel equipment.

I was trying to think of the various time travel theories I've come across in my life, and tried to think of ones other than Doctor Who... but it does bring out one of the most interesting ideas.

I like the idea of fixed points in time that must always happen, and then moments in flux. You can change the moments in flux and history will reconnect, it won't be that much of a problem, but if you mess with a fixed point...

I like the idea of time as a wave. Light is a particle and a wave, why not time?

hehe, pretty much the only way I can wrap my head around most 'time travel' is the sliders/fringe method, where any change results in an alternate time line / parallel universe. Case in point - a team goes back to Dallas and stops Kennedy's Assassination - If they stopped it, in the new future there would be no reason to go back and stop it so then they would have never been there to stop it and it would happen again, and this would just loop over and over :)

I thinks this is a interesting story concept where a orc somehow tumble across time traveling device and use to change human history and by doing that he change the entire human race into orcs. I like this idea some much that will I do my take on this idea I hope it will give some ideas you can use and if you're looking for some ideas for a time travel story then you should try looking up the Time Travel tropes and the Temporal Paradoxes so with that out of the way here my take on the concept: The story take place in alternative universe where orcs exist as a somewhat primitive and barbaric race ( they mostly wear a small loincloth that barely cover their junk and they have primitive weapons like spears, axes, and clubs) and they're not advance as the humans but they make for it with their brute strength. And the humans are a very advance race and they are very close to almost completely wiping the orcs out but they just almost close to cracking the code to time travel but it is still in it experimental stage so they're still testing it and while they're testing it keeps it safe on their top-secret military base where they keeps all of their experimental weapons/projects at. And finally they're ready to test on a living being ( a soldier but you can change that if want) the soldier will be ready to go through the time machine after the scientists is done giving him time travel theories. But out of nowhere the orcs attack the base as their last desperate attempt to turn the tide against the humans so among the chaos a huge orc come across the testing chamber of the time machine and the orc come across of a scientist who is badly injure but still alive the orc get the information about the time machine and how to use it but scientist beg the orc use it because they don't what would happen if they use it on living being but orc ignore the scientists pleas because this is probably his only chance to save his dying race and beside what the humans from using it when they're done perfecting the machine. As the orc is firing up the machine the soldier jump out and starts fighting the orc but the orc win the fight by knocking the soldier senseless but the soldier blackout he see the orc walking to the energy beam before the orc step in the orc looks back at the soldier with a look that said he wish there was another way and with that the orc step in light then starts screaming because of the pain of being tears apart atom by atom then he disappear then soldier falls unconscious. The soldier wake up in a forest wearing nothing but a small loincloth wondering about what happen to the base and happen to his clothes so the soldier finally decided explore his surrounding after one hour of walking he been spotted by some orcs riding horses some of them was wearing armor (like this and this ) the soldier was ready to fight but what caught him off guard was the orcs were happy to see him one even starts hugging him then orcs telling him that his family and friends was starting get worry sick looking for him and just then the soldier starts having strange flashbacks by mention of his family and friends ( this is like the Ripple Effect Proof Memory tropes the soldier's memories is getting alter like his childhood memory of his dad teaching him how to ride a bike but his dad is replace by a big orc like this and his memory of his mom baking him cookies but his is replace by a female orc and as time pass by it will get hard remember some of his old memory ) after that strange flashback he decided to go with the orcs. On their travel back the soldier start asking questions that puzzled the orcs like he ask "them what species is he?" they would reply that he is a orc the soldier find that strange for the fact that still looks human. Then finally they make it to civilization but only finds it looks different and inhibited by orcs it's looks like a mix of the medieval and modern era and the orcs have got more moderned then the last he saw them they now have swords, arrows and the city is surrounded by a stone wall he even see a orc family having a barbecue with grill. Then his family came out to greet him realizing this orc family is bigger then his old family upon seeing their faces started having flashback this time is the memory of him spending time with family like him hunting with his dad. Then starts to slowly remember about a time machine and fighting a orc. Will post the rest in another post because I don't have no more room.

After remembering the time machine the fight with the orc realize that orc must have change the past somehow then he notices that he is changing into a orc little by little starting to freak-out his orc parents calm him down took him home. They took to house made of stones they invited him to a feast there he learn more about his orc family history how they come from a long of warriors and heroies and as he is learning about the change start infecting his mind and personality and before finally accepting his fate and cementing his final step to fully becoming orc the plot-twist is that he learn the orc who started his blood-line is the same orc that travel in travel in the past is now his great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grand father who is held as a hero by leading his troops to victory and how the orc is now a capital race they even started making their own weapons at some points. Might add more later.

I just so happen to come across this topic by accident while I was looking for a journal that forgot a while back then I tumble upon this interesting concept and when I get a unique story concept with potential in my head I have to write it down and beside people rarely write this kind of take on time travel and throwing orcs in is a interesting twist. I mean just imagine the possibly with this concept the history human is change all because one orc went back in time and only the protagonist is aware of the changes. And in the alter timeline the orcs would lives in some kind of barbarian medieval streampunk era and the presidents are orc chiefs and even The Lincoln Memorial statue is replace by a statue of a orc warrior sitting on a throne (just picture a big orc barbarian sitting on a throne naked). And the social norms and cultures would change too like the orcs are less of brute then they were in the original timeline but they still kept their somewhat warrior barbarian mindset like everybody would just wear a small loincloth (including the females) that barely hide anything or they can go butt naked (their casual wears are mostly something like this barbarian's outfit ) and they're not ashame going out in public like that even their battle armor is build in a unconventional way (like they have armor covering only their arms and legs and the head giving the barbarian knights look). The orc are advance but not very advance but more then they were in the original timeline like in the medieval times (but with some modern stuff like have now like bike, skates, and maybe some motion pictures with theaters possible due to some kind of time paradox backlash) they finds out how to use oil as fuel and they got cannons and balloon airship and they even invented the dynamite and their military is base on a mix of knights and barbarians. The orc that went back in time went to a point where humans are defenseless and not advance as were in the future so the took the advantage by becoming the primitive humans leader he starts teaching them the way of the orc teaching them his culture and traditions or something and from there the timeline started to change and eventually the human become the orc race by the orcs breeding out the humans bloodline thus technically making the humans go extinct. I hope you could write this story concept out one day. I might add some more ideas to this later.

maybe the whole time stream, and the Orc mass transformation, could make the population more inclined to bisexuality, since the people of the present still exists and you are the writer of gay stories thie is a fair compromise, and the orc choses to be an ancesstor of that agent out of respect for his dedication to his job?

I'm Bi, but I have difficulty on writing Bisexual chahacters, for me is easier to write eighet gay or stright characters
