~ MFF 2013 Wrap-up ~
Well then.. where to start.. Was such an amazing weekend over all. Guess I'll just start at the beginning. This will probably end up being a rather lengthy post, so you've been warned~
First off, took the train there. First time riding on Amtrak, though I certainly would ride again. Was a very comfortable ride, albeit a really long one. Once I did get to Union Station I kinda maybe sorta made
come and get me because I was a scaredy cat. Once he almost lost his lunch on the L-Train (was that what it was called..?) and arrived, we decided it was best to take a cab back to the hotel. Pffft! First time in a cab and I swear we had the most insane driver on the road, but he did get us to the hotel rather quickly. XD
The hotel was amazing. I literally stood there in awe for a brief time, and this was just the main entry area! We were in the "executive wing," which was rather silly considering the couple other "normal" rooms I was in at one time or another were a lot nicer than ours was. Spent most of Thursday just people watching since most furs were just checking in or arriving on Friday.
Friday was the first day I started to cry though, as I finally got to meet
for the first time in furson. I fought as hard as I could, but I know I sobbed and cried a bit with that first hug. It took everything I had to not completely lose it right on the spot (that would come later). Sorry for the slightly matted fur hun. =>_>= I also presented her with a gift, which you'll see later once I edit it for posting on FA here~
Right after that lil.. thing I got stuck in my eye.. yeah, they'll believe that.. was resolved, I also was able to finally meet
,
and even someone I've never met before in my life,
! Yay new people! Yay hugs! \o/
I spent most of the con walking around in a white/blue hat and arm warmers that my amazing friend Layla made me. If you saw a hat like that (with ears), then yeah.. it was me. I also had the honor of being a handler/wrangler for
and
! Was my first time doing so.. they said I did a great job at it so I really hope I did. I took lots of pictures too (which I'll post a few of or maybe at least link to), even though it was my first time using the camera so they didn't come out so well (sorry!). I did learn a lot though, and even got to go a few places non-suiters aren't allowed because of this. Which is where I learned a lot, actually. Got behind the scenes kinda info which will come in super handy for when I get my fursuit, or handle/wrangle for someone again~
And thanks to
and
, I got to meet a really awesome fur,
, a.k.a. Skittles! Yay new friends! \o/ He was super nice and I'm so very glad I got to meet him. But wait, there's more! Yes! Also thanks to the feline duo I was also able to meet
and
! The five of them together made up the force behind something I was super happy to be a part of, even if no one ever credits me because I was just some who-man (human) holding a camera, the MFF 2013 Maid Raid! Though I'm not sure if that was the official name, but it sure sounded neat in my head~ And what exactly was this? Basically the five of them all dressed in French maid outfits and ran around the hotel knocking on people's doors with
going "Housekeeping!" if someone replied to the knock. Fun times and laughter ensued~
I also have to thank everyone at
for taking me in and letting me into their "family reunion" room party even though I clearly don't have one of their fursuits. It was such a nice thought. It really meant a lot to me. >;_;<
And this is what kinda lead to Saturday night's complete breakdown. Yeah, I just totally lost it. I cried for a solid 45 minutes as
tried his best to comfort me. Everyone at the con, and I mean everyone, were so nice to me. No negative words, no bad gestures, nothing. All smiles and hugs and warm wishes and such. I.. I didn't want it to end. I still wish it didn't. Knowing the weekend was about to end, as well as the con, was a bit much for me to take and I just lost it. Admittingly, it started when I hugged
and
goodnight that night. It was then that it hit me: the weekend was almost over; I wouldn't be able to be with my friends anymore (least not for a really long time). I started crying right then and there. I couldn't even speak. All I could manage was to nod a bit when
asked me if I was going to be alright. I lied, but I didn't want them to worry after all. I managed to hold it in until I got back to my room, then it just all came pouring out..
I tried to make the best of the last day on Sunday, even though a bad bloody nose kinda took me out of the running for quite a while as I spent an unknown amount of time bent over a toilet as it just came pouring out, not wanting or showing any sign of stopping. Ugh. I'm alright for anyone curious, just happens to me from time to time. Doctor said it was a sign I had good blood flow or something. *shrugs* But I started crying once again when I had to hug
and
goodbye when they had to leave for home..
All in all, I had a really great time at the con. Come hell or high water I will be back next year. With any luck, I'll have a fursuit of my own, or at least a partial or something. That's my plan at least, and I'm gonna try my best to get in shape for it too! Now to start saving up for a fursuit.. guess I should start looking around at the ton of makers that are out there. Anyone have any ideas of good places to start with that?

FA+

Basically, you're like an assistant to a fursuiter or fursuiters. You get them water, help them put on/take off their fursuits and sometimes even interpret for them! I like to think of it like their the star(s) and you're behind the scenes making sure everything goes as smoothly as possible for them. 'Suiters have a very limited field of view, so it's kinda up to you to make sure their tails are behaving and not knocking anything over, or that people don't sneak up on them in bad ways like running up and jumping on their backs. Sometimes you're needed to step in and speak for the 'suiter because they can't, as it would break character for them for whatever reason(s) they may have. Next year I'm gonna be sure to make/carry an emergency repair kit too, as sometimes, well.. shit happens.
Being one also has it's perks though! Like getting to take lots of photos that no one else is ever around for! And getting lots and lots of hugs! That's the best part I think.. all the hugs, and head scritches too!

So suiters generally remain mute while suited?
>^.^<
You and Mieze and Calico are 3 wonderful people and I was very fortunate to meet you :)
>;_;<

Thank YOU for helping make this such a great weekend sugar. You really did great and any time I needed help? You were right there. That's great wrangling.
I'm glad that this weekend showed you just how many wonderful, silly, fun people and furries are out there *nods* And yeaaaah.. my PCD is starting to finally kick in between life crisis' that keep popping up.
I almost want to put the maid costume on just to tickle someone's nose with it again
...
*starts crying again..*

=>_>=
I woulda at LEAST given ya a hug if I knew ya were there.
>;_;<
Well now I'mma have to pay close attention and wait till the next con ya go to. Dunno when I can go to another con, since it ain't exactly free to do so, but you're one of the few people I actually know that I'd have liked to have met at the con if I knew ya went.
Not many people I know went to MFF 2013 so I'm kinda disappointed with myself for missing that opportunity to meet someone awesome.
>;_;<
*huggles* Don't cry though. there'll be other opportunities and other cons. :3
