Need to upgrade PC..please help.

Normally I don't ask for help like this, but I really need to upgrade my old PC from Windows XP to Vista. I know Vista is bad, but my computer is too old to run Windows 7, not enough RAM, and I don't have any money for a new pc, so if anyone has a way to get me upgraded to Vista, I would be most appreciative.

Any idea what ram your machine uses?
You need a new machine... badly. You could build a machine for $250 that would be easily 4-5 times as much computer as what you have there. And you need as least that much to move up to Windows 7 comfortably.
What sorts of programs do you plan on running? There's several Linux distros that can run most windows programs and are actually designed for 'legacy hardware' and low system resources. I'd suggest Mint + Cinnamon 32 bit for someone new to Linux, although Ubuntu 32 bit isn't a bad choice either. LinuxLite is designed to be able to run on 128 MB RAM smoothly and efficiently.
I would very strongly suggest dual-booting or just booting up from a USB Drive (Yes, you can run the full OS off of a USB stick).
You can start playing with Ubuntu by simply going here and let the program do everything for you.
And best of all... it's FREE! Oh, and you can still read from and write to MS Office files with LibreOffice, you can still get on the internet with Firefox or Chromium or Opera, and most of your Windows programs can be run via WINE and PlayOnLinux.
Try it out, you won't regret it!
