I'm Embarrassed to Ask This, But Please Help

A few of you know this, as you follow me on Facebook. The rest of this might be news.
I work in childcare as a teacher. I had a child break my thumb on December 4th by bending it backwards while I was safely restraining him during a tantrum. I was in a plaster cast for two weeks and have now been placed in a removable brace. Nonetheless, my limits are the same: no pushing, no pulling and no lifting. Lifting is like 90% of my job. I pick kids up for whatever reason (a diaper change, to put 'em in a crib for nap, put 'em in a high chair, or they got hurt and just need some snugglin'). Not being able to do my job has left me, well..jobless.
I was working as said daycare as a per diem, on-call sub, so while I've been compensated by workman's comp for the work I missed the remainder of that week I got hurt, I don't think it counts potential missed work as I struggle to get hired in a more permanent position (which I think I have, they're doing the CORI checks on me now). By the time I get seen for another follow-up with an orthopedic surgeon on Jan. 10th, I will have missed (including holidays) a collected 5 and a half weeks of work.
This is why I'm asking for help.
Not being able to work means no income, and of course no income means I'm not able to pay the bills. I'm fortunate in one sense that I didn't have much of a reason to move out from my folks yet- only returning from China, what, 2 months ago? - so I don't have rent to be responsible for, but that still leaves a cell phone bill, a car payment, and car insurance, totaling almost $300 a month. I've been poking around my home seeing what kinds of collectibles or thing I can sell off to raise money, but I'll be honest - I hate eBay. They aren't seller-friendly anymore.
Instead, I was hoping to open some discounted commissions here. I have time today to make some more samples of some new stuff if people are interested in other things. This is what I can offer you:

As for what type of image...you're welcome to draw what feels right to you and whatever comes from inside. If you're stumped though and want ideas I'll come up with some :)
Since his ref sheet isn't complete I'll just basically describe that Blue also has blonde hair on the back of his head like me, and that his hair doesn't actually cover his eyes but sometimes falls between them.
My WIP reference should still be on my Facebook timeline...and of course there s images in my gallery to use for references as well. :)

As long as he's in some decent lighting so I can get his colors and markings right I can work off of a photo. I had to do that to make Salonga's ref sheet a while. Should be a cinch.
