Movie Recommendation of the Week

Back... with heart!
Milk
No, it's not an animated adventure staring that most wonderful dairy product (someday... *sniff*), it's a biopic, and a damn good one at that. In fact, I wouldn't hesitate to call this one of the best films this year.
The story follows political and gay rights activist Harvey Milk from when he first came to the Castor district in San Francisco in the early 70s to his many bids for city counsel to his eventual assassination. As he gets more and more involved in trying to make life better for gays everywhere (something that was far from easy at the time), he begins to face troubles at home with his various lovers.
In a word, the film is inspiring. Sean Penn does an outstanding job as main man Milk (everyone does great work, as a matter of fact), really getting into the mind and body of the man. It's incredible to watch him, and you get swept along with his enthusiasm (and crushed at his heartbreak).
The writing is solid, the cinematography spot on (and by the end, all the shots have a good amount of tension since you know what's coming), and the feel is excellent. The spirit of the 70s in the Castro appears very well captured, and it helps make the whole thing sink in better.
For a movie like this, it really doesn't matter if you're straight, gay, bisexual, or whatever. It's simply a ridiculously good and moving motion picture, and should be enjoyable by everyone (still, it could really help sway you if you are anti-gay for whatever reason).
Also (and this is just a suggestion), please: when you go to see this, consider an alternate theater to any Cinemark theater. Here's why: http://www.nomilkforcinemark.com/ Whether or not you decide on it is up to you, the important thing is that this great movie is seen.

I'll get around to seeing it. I don't have a car, and so movie watching is limited to what I can see when I visit my folks in assbackwards Natchitoches.
Yeah, one of the lucky things about living in SF is there's around two dozen theaters here showing just about every movie currently on release (wide or limited). In fact I'm a bit spoiled in that respect; shoot, I watched this in the Castro theater
Also: am I the only one who think it's perfectly normal to go to the movies by yourself? I do it a lot (more than with other people, as a matter of fact) and everyone always seems to give me a weird look for it.
I don't remember the song, but when it comes to music I usually need to see a movie a couple times before I get it all down (it's the thing I tend to remember the worst).
I loved his speeches, saw some at youtube, then read his biography at the college library, certainly will watch the movie...in fact I will watch two movies this weekend, Milk (since is released this Friday) and another movie, might only had to pay for one movie since I got a free ticket everyweek, but don't want to forget to watch it :3
And I'm all for a double feature, hope you have a good time
I had to admit I got a B in my report, but that was mostly for my spelling and grammar X3, but no matter as long as I learned about those truth stories, and now Harvey Milk is in my list of inspiring peoples
