This is a reminder that Rhode Island Furbowl 23 will take place this Saturday, February 1 at 7 p.m. at East Providence Lanes at 80 Newport Avenue, East Providence, RI. (MAP IS HERE)
The cost for bowling is $10 per person. I will collect your money and use it to pay the staff at the end of the night.
I have a couple of things to mention about this and future furbowls.
First, I've made a decision about a new location for our post-bowl dinner. The Asian buffet that we used to go to was a matter of convenience because of its location right next door to the bowling alley and its price. However, there are several factors that led me to decide to leave, particularly, their 10 p.m. closing time, the questionable leftover food at that time of night, and reports that some members of our group have gotten sick from eating there. We are now going to be heading to Gregg's Restaurant in East Providence. The address is 1940 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence, RI, about 10 minutes away from the bowling alley. The food is similar to that served at Newport Creamery, and the place is famous for its cakes and desserts. The menu is here: https://greggsusa.com/menu
Also, Gregg's is open until midnight on Saturdays. This means that we can afford to stay longer at East Providence Lanes. The current plan for this weekend is to arrive at 7:00, turn on the lanes somewhere between 7:30 to 7:45, stay until about 10:00, and then head to Gregg's. We only have the lanes for two hours, but we should be okay to stay for three.
In the last post, I mentioned my proposal for us to attend a charity bowling event at East Providence Lanes on Tuesday, May 20. Some people seem to be okay with the idea, but right now, I'm really looking to see if people would actually be able to attend this. It is taking place on a Tuesday night in the middle of the week. It could be difficult for some people to make it, seeing that they go to work or school. Please let me know if you could make it on that date of May 20, and then I'll contact the organizers.
As far as the dates of the next furbowls, I usually schedule them for the first Saturdays of the month but I'll push them to the second Saturdays if other events are taking place at the same time. I have not booked these dates with the alley yet, but it appears that RI Furbowl 24 will be on March 8 and RI Furbowl 25 will be on April 12.
Speaking of RI Furbowl 25, everyone has been asking me if I'm planning anything special for it. My original intention was to buy another anniversary cake just like last year. However, with the memory of last weekend's hugely successful Mass Furbowl 25 still fresh in everyone's minds, the
MassFurBowl organizers have approached me offering their assistance in case I'm interested in holding a similar event here. I'm certainly willing to talk with them, but please understand that this is NOT guaranteed to happen. There are many things involved in getting all this done within two months, particularly in scheduling the time at the alley, finding and booking a hotel that will have us, and of course, how to pay for everything. I'll let you all know how this turns out and if anything comes from it.
Please remember to RSVP for this furbowl.

Code of Conduct: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3321444/ Please be on your best behavior and use common sense. There will be families and children present. Please be courteous to the other guests of the alley. You are representing the Furry Fandom while you are there.
Ears, tails, collars and fursuits are welcome. A room will be provided as changing space and a break area for fursuiters. Please be aware that this is taking place at the same time as Cosmic Bowling when the lights are dimmed and loud music is being played.
There is a bar at the alley and all standard Rhode Island alcohol consumption laws are in effect. Underage drinking is not allowed and do not buy drinks for those who are underage. If you do drink, please do so in moderation.
Please RSVP on this journal or contact me,
CirrusSkyDragon. Please let me know if you and your friends are coming and if you will be bowling and/or fursuiting.

Big IF for me, as I'm waiting for my tax refund to kick in. And if I am able to go, it'll be a matter of me finding crash space after.

Correct. Right now, I'm just looking to see if people want to come. If so, then I'll check with the PawSox organizers to see if our fursuiters would be allowed. I have to describe and pitch our group very carefully. We know that East Providence Lanes already lets us in their alley with our suits; the complication comes from the fact that a very well-known organization is there with their official mascot who may not want to be seen with our "freelance mascots."
