Been asked this quite a few times now and finally managed to get a slightly better description of a Poffels magic type/shape/use/etc.

Their magic can form any shape they desire, the stronger the emotion (ie: happiness, anger, etc.) the stronger the magic and more solid the shape. Some magic (mainly of the binding or healing variety) require a spell to be cast. Each Poffel has a magic preference (whether elemental or healing or whatever) and will lean towards that magic type the most, though they can usually use all magic. Taking off the collar can result in too much energy intake or over-exhaustion and can end in being EXTREMELY ill for long periods of time or death!
