Bad Idea #58: Chain Reaction

Neuterons?
Somewhere in my wanderings, perhaps on FA, perhaps elsewhere, I saw a sketch showing a four-place guillotine setup, four blades arranges in a square, a rope holding up a blade being held by the previous condemned's mouth. As long as all four kept their jaws clamped nothing happened. That's part of the inspiration for this little bit of nastiness.
Imagine four (or n for n>1) well-secured fellows, nude, each with their balls pulled out onto an obvious target area. Suspended above each set is a weight, and rope holding up that weight has the other end in the 'previous' fellow's mouth. As long as they all keep their jaws clamped their ropes, nothing happens. But tiredness alway arrives eventually, sleep is needed, or perhaps one might sneeze and when that happens, down falls the weight on the next fellow and he's got a decidedly nontrivial pain. He probably won't be able to hold his rope, and the next weight falls. Even if he is an amazingly dedicated hero and somehow keeps hold of the rope, he only holds it for now. Even dedicated heroes tire eventually - and if he's the fellow just before the one who first let go...
There are variations that could be done. It could be, say, pre-aimed crossbows rather than weights, or some release that would result in a slow crushing which would add to the anticipation along the chain. And if someone were to interfere, say with feathers to tickle, or pepper to spread about, a little shocking device, or even just by telling a joke, that might accelerate the start... or is the wait half the fun?
