The difference between want and need
Short rant:
All to often I see people approaching artists with ridiculous demands or desires, the biggest one being the 'need' for a certain item.
For example: I NEED a fursuit/art/plush/etc.
No. You need oxygen and nutrition. Things that substain you in life or keep you safe. Those are things needed.
Art pieces and costumery are what are called "luxury items". They are things to make you happy or to show a self expression. You will not die if you don't have a fursuit. If you feel you must have something, work hard or make it! You will appreciate the item much more if your own time and labor went into it rather than if it was just given to you. Keep in mind many of these people that you are contacting are offering their services to put food on the table or keep a roof over their heads. They won't be giving things away for free. Free doesn't pay the bills, no matter how much we wish they did.

There are some that use it a but more seriously though :T
I understand exaggeration (I use "need" sometimes in jest), but yes...Art is a luxury. It won't kill you to not have this fursuit/fursuit item/piece of art right at this very moment. I get slightly annoyed when people say they "need" a luxury item in full seriousness...
for anyone with soft ears please excuse me language. i apologize.
One of my biggest annoyances is seeing people running around saying they need a fursuit, or furry art, or *insert luxury item here*.
Im being patient for my stuff, and working for it^^ earning it is definitely more satisfying than being given it, gifts are different though
I'm also getting sick of the whiny notes I get, begging for an art trade.
As much as I'd like to...I just honestly can't afford it.
XD like in spongebob!
that aside, yes, needs and wants are very distinct things.
You pretty much called Sharpe the devil for no reason other than randomly generated numbers on a journal and you are insisting this comment is justified just because "you are sensitive"?
But really very few people actually have read revelations and fewer have actually taken the time to understand what six hundred three score and six means or represents. It was in context of the persecution of those who side against evil. And making it socially acceptable to support it and ostracize the others. And then they say that is the number that represets the beast.
It also hearkens back to Jewish culture where seven is a holy number and six is falling short. Sort of like the number 13.
Some people hav associated it with something it is not.
You don't need a fursuit, you need actual therapy. Your 14[as it states on your profile], and fursuits cost thousands of dollars.
I'm 100% sure you need air to survive. You need food to survive. No, you won't die without a fursuit. No, you won't get worse.
And if you didn't want retort on a public journal where your opinion is made public to all of Sharpe's watchers, why make the comment at all? Because YOU say so, no one is going to call you out on it? Because you took a journal that was in NO WAY associated with you personally?
At first you say you hate Sharpe for posting this, then you agree with her, then you say you don't like her again, then you blindly insult anyone and everyone.
The only childish remarks are yours.
I don't see this from your point of view, because like a badly written highschool paper, you have no point of view. You are hmming and hawwing on both sides and are just blatantly causing a fuss over nothing.
No one is going to yell at you over not liking someone. But we are going to pick apart your poorly written comment, which upon re-reading, still makes zero sense.
And it didn't change because I got a fursuit. Because I didn't. I gained confidence by getting pushed out into the world and starting to take it on. Good friends helped break me out of my shell. And build my confidence in my self. I learned to stop caring about what everyone thought and just do my thing.
It's still something you want. Being super shy didn't kill me. And it won't kill you. There are plenty of shy people I know who have bloomed. And none of them suit. And some of them stay shy and that's perfectly fine too.
Getting a fursuit doesn't change who you are. Only you can change who you are.
Honestly. Getting a fursuit could more hinder you in his stage because you will rely on it to gain confidence. Are you going to wear it every time you go out in public? Are you going to go to school in suit every day? Job interviews? Because you'll get eaten alive if you do that. It might boost yor confidance, but it will seriously shake others who might see suits as scary or creepy. Which is a surprisingly large number of people.
If your sole reason for getting a suit is because you are insecure with who you are. I think you're in this for the wrong reasons.
Secondly. Why the hell would you say that second half. It sounds like you have alot of confidence issues if you're rebutting things we haven't said. To me that says you feel you have to apologize for how you feel.
Thirdly it was mostly confusing and came off as said for attention attracting reasons.
And I guess since I'm responding...it worked. ;p
Yes, it is your opinion, but do you really have to use the words 'Fucking' 'Ass' 'Bitchy' and 'Damn' a lot? No, that pretty much makes you look very illiterate, IN MY OPINION.
If it isn't imperative to your immediate and or long term survival, meaning you'd literally die without it, you do not NEED it. Literally anything that isn't food, water, shelter and certain medical attention for life threatening health issues is not necessary to your survival.
Wants are literally anything else AFTER you have your basic needs covered. And to be honest, like you said art isnt even a want as much as it goes as far to be a luxury want. I know too many people who are/were literally dying cause they can't get their basic needs, so I do not approve of casual toss-abouts of the word, especially with something like I "need" a fursuit. No, you don't actually, would it be super hella rad? Heck yeah! But tbh I need the several thousand bucks that that fursuit is worth to keep up on rent, more than I need it to get a suit ._.
...er, end rant? xD
Sorry if I got a bit fierce there but, yeah.
