We Have a Jewel in Our Family.

Ever since Gingersnap (aka Grandmamma) passed away I have been wanting another pit mix. Ginger was a sweet little thing who loved to burrow under the covers and sleep.
For many, many months I have been looking at Petfinder.com for another sweetie. I have a good friend who rescues dogs (she has a "pull license") and she was looking, too. Well, she recommended a brindle pitt at the Chicago Animal Care and Control center.
MW and I looked and the pup was so sad and adorable, until we realized the girl was about 80 pounds and much too big for us. But while on the website we saw this little girl named "Sally," a white pit mix about 35 pounds and almost grown.
And she stole our hearts!
We went to get her today. For a very nominal fee we got a beautiful white pit, all fixed and up to date on shots. She has a beautiful brown spot on her side and on her tail. We named her, Gemma, which in Italian means "Jewel." She is quite the pretty lady at 8 months old. And is she inquisitive! When we left with her the shelter people loudly announced another adoption and took pictures and everyone applauded. WOW!
Gemma loves Lucky, our German Shepherd mix. She follows him around and plays with him constantly. She also has raised the ire of Holly, our Lab. Ever since Ginger passed away, Holly has been the love of my life (and she knows it). We've been keeping an eye on Holly who has a little jealousy issue with Gemma.
But we know this will pass. We will post some more pictures of her when we get the chance.
