DreamKeepers Review
So I have a loooong overdue review that I wanted to make of the comic Dreamkeepers. David was so kind as to contact me and send me the first volume of his book at no charge to me at all, and up until now I just never got a chance to sit down and read it.
So David, I apologize deeply for not holding up to my promise until now.
I'm not much a reviewer.. I'm not good at pointing out things sometimes, but bare with me as I do my best.
I'm gonna try and pinpoint certain aspects of the story without giving away spoilers. What I'll do is comment on the art, the story, and the characters.
The Art:
If you've seen this comic, it goes without saying that the art is outstanding. I am ESPECIALLY in love with how all the backgrounds look... SERIOUSLY.. if I had even an ounce of the talent that is put into the backgrounds in this comic I could die happy. Along with that is the style.. it is unlike any other style I've ever seen before. and I mean that in a good way. It's unique and really catches your eye as you read it. You can go through the comic multiple times and still miss things with how much detail and care has gone into it.
The Story:
Again, I won't be giving any spoilers, seriously..go read it yourself. All I'll say here is that the story is such a simple idea.. but still feels fresh and done so well. The writing in this comic is done amazingly. I absolutely love it when a comic grabs you and keeps you interested throughout. You can definitely tell a lot of thought went into this, and David was thinking, "What will keep the reader interested.. and WHY would the reader be interested in this?" I feel that myself... that is a very important thing to do when writing comics.. is to keep asking yourself "Why?" Well it is very well done here and I highly recommend reading it yourself.
The Characters:
These are some DAMN good characters. We have Mace, Whip, Namah, and many others who all have very distinct personalities and traits. I absolutely love the designs too.. I feel that you have a VERY good character design if you can look at like.. let's say a silhouette of a character.. and you can tell which character it is. All the characters have eye appealing colors and are nice to look at.
To sum up, Dreamkeepers is an amazing piece of work.. I can't really think of anything negative to say about it really... other than, "I NEED volume 2 and 3 now."
Thanks for you time, and Have a nice day. :3
