FA United 7: Monster Island is hosting a "Design A Kaiju" art contest. We're seeking talented, creative, and aspiring monster designers to submit their original, monstrous creations or kaijufied characters for FA United 7! We need creative people to submit ideas for our site, conbook, and our limited edition FAU Monster Island art book (available to sponsors and up!).
It's your chance to get your art seen and featured on the site and in the community!

While we've already got a lot of fantastic Kaiju designs (with more coming), when it comes to Kaiju, you just can't have enough. We need your creativity! Your spark! Your city-stomping, battleship-shredding dragons, saurians, monsters, and giant beasts to help make our con a stand-out success!
== THE PRIZES
* 1st place: Elite Sponsorship for FAU 7 (plus the chance to design a site banner!) and $125
* 2nd place: Super Sponsorship for FAU 7 and $75
* 3rd place: Sponsor Registration for FAU 7 and $40
We'll also feature your art and submissions in an FA news post with all the fame, fortune, and watchers you can handle!* It's a great way to get your art in front of the community!
* Fame and Fortune not included.
* Watchers not guaranteed.
== THE RULES
* All entries MUST be 300DPI, high resolution.
* All entries MUST be rated no higher than PG-13. Violence/destruction and stomping are fine, but NO gore!
* NO trademarked characters. (Sorry, Godzilla, you're going to have to sit this one out.)
== HOW TO ENTER
* Email your entry (high res) to info2014[at]faunited.org
* AND submit your design to Fur Affinity with the keyword "faukaiju"
* That's it!
The deadline to submit is June 1st, 2014! Winners will be selected and posted shortly after.

And no, you don't have to go to the event. You get the registration AND the cash. If you're not going, you don't have to take the reg. Or you can give it to a friend!
Just one question I can enter my pre-existing kaiju character for example my persona/fursona?
Also a CD wouldn't be a bad idea either.
Btw this isn't something anyone should be comfortable in having to "assume".
We'll provide legal paperwork to all chosen which will cover this, and ensure they retain all rights, but grant us permission to use the work.
Just curious because I actually have quite a few monster characters already.
Many other cons do conbook contributions, and without offering anything in return. It's done as a community event, and we're offering some nice perks for those who want to partake.

You can either make a new creature, or make a Kaiju version of your fursona or other characters you have, or you can just re-design or build off one you already have.

all what's to do is to paint a monster in action? That is all?

also whats DPI mean?
And what if the mecha itself isn't something copyrighted, but certain (very small) black details on its paint are symbols from a video game, and the background is from the same? Could they stay, or would the details have to be blurred and the background changed?
