In life, The People are represented by two separate yet equally important groups:
The Fates, who investigate all the possible alternatives to 'Joy';
and the forces of Chaos, who defile the fabric of The Tapestry Of Life.
These are my stories.....

Just because... I wanted to start a Meme that was PRACTICAL for a change... So here it is:

- Shujin Tribble's RECIPE MEME -
Japanese Tempura Gohan
Ingredients:
1 Lrge Egg
1.5 Cup Ice Water
2 Cup Flower (Sifted)
2 Cup Panko Flakes / Japanese bread crumbs (Separate bowl)
Assorted Vegetables & (BONELESS) Meats to fry
Broccoli, shrimp, chicken, zucchini, red or green peppers,
onions, turkey, eggplant, potato, scallops.... it's all good.
1 Cup Japanese rice per person (I recommend 'NASHIKI' brand rice)
Use of a rice steamer is HIGHLY recommended - you can usually
find them at a local discount store for aprox $20.
1 Wok or similar good-sized pan for frying
* Oil for frying - will need enough for 2 inch / 5 cm deep oil bath
1 High-temp (oil or candy) thermometer
Steps:
1 - Rinse rice until water is lo longer milky and begin cooking following directions on cooker. (It'll keep just fine - don't worry)
2 - Pour oil into wok/pan and begin heating at a med pace. Oil will eventually need to get to 350f/175c, so take your time. Due to the high heat, consider peanut or canola oil.
3 - Cut up meat / peppers into long strips, veg's into rounds. Should not be thicker than your thumb to cook well.
(*NOTE*) Oinions may not want to hold together. Consider
toothpicks / bamboo skewers to hold them together.
4 - Blend egg into water by hand
5 - Pour flower into sifter and sprinkle into egg/water. Keep mixing until large lumps dissapear
** Oil MUST be at temp now....
6 - Dip meat/veg/fish into batter to coat, then transfer to bowl with panko flakes and cover with panko. (I like to use a covered container and shake the panko to cover evenly.)
7 - GENTLY lower the tempura into oil, watching the oil temp closely. Keep it as close to 350f/175c as you can. (You should be able to do 5 pieces or so at a time without seriously changing the temp.)
8 - Keep turning the tempura to cook evenly. When the tempura becomes golden brown remove from oil and place on paper towels to drain for 1 minute.
9 - Serve with rice while still hot!
(Optional) You can find Tempura Dipping Sauce an use that instead of soy sauce. It's a FAR better taste!

Faggot Recipes
Preparation Time: 50 Minutes
Cooking Time: 2 Hours
People tend to love or hate faggots, but these beauties, freshly made in faggot gravy bare little resemblance to their distant cousins, which you may have seen in the deep freeze at your local supermarket.
(So what where the cousins of these faggots doing hanging out in the deep freeze section?)
Ingredients: Serves 4
1 pigs liver - diced
1 pigs heart - diced
6 rashers streaky bacon - cut into strips
250g pork belly - diced
2 medium sized onions - peeled and sliced
1 egg
100g breadcrumbs
2 tsp of finely chopped fresh sage
Salt and pepper to taste
A large knob of butter
Cooking Instructions:
1. Melt the butter in a large heavy based oven proof pan, add half the sliced onion and cook over a moderate heat until the onions soften.
2. Gradually add all the meats, stir for a few minutes then add enough water to cover the ingredients, leave uncovered and put in the middle shelf of the oven at 190oC for 50 minutes.
3. Remove from the oven, drain the liquid (to make the gravy), mince the meats and onion with the remaining onion, egg, breadcrumbs, 1 tsp of sage and salt and pepper, mix well and form into faggot sized balls.
(How big are faggot balls?)
4. Place the faggots into a greased baking tray (That'll get them excited) and add enough of the reserved liquid to just cover the base of the tray. Cook for about 40 minutes at 200oC on the middle shelf.
5. In the meantime use the rest of the reserved liquid to make some gravy.
6. Five minutes before the faggots are cooked add the gravy to the tray and cook on the stove getting as much of the meat juices into the liquid.
(This could get a bit messy trying to get all that 'meat juice' into all those faggots)
7. Serve whilst piping hot with mashed potatoes and peas pudding, garnish with the remaining sage.
