So, I've been re-working my profile and doing some updates here. My profile was getting kinda bulky, so I figured I'd slim it down a bit. Some key ones of importance that have become somewhat tiresome for me, so I figured I'd gently address them here.
First, please do not ask for my Skype. Skype is reserved for commissions and close friends only. I don't give out my Skype.
Second, please do not send me notes without a subject. If you send me a note with nothing more than "Hi" or "Hello" as a subject line, I'll probably ignore it. I get so many notes, and those have become very difficult to sort through.
Now that the housekeeping stuff is taken care of, here's the fun part! So, I know a lot of you have expressed interest in getting art from me but don't have the means to commission me. SO! Here's what I'm going to do. This journal's comment section will be an
ART WISHLIST
Now, this is going to work differently from the artwork requests I've taken in the past.
If you would like art from me, comment here, BUT READ THIS FIRST. I will know if you haven't read it.
This is an "Art Wishlist." That is, it's not conventional requests. If you add yourself to this list, you're basically saying, "I would like free art." I will then, at my leisure, work on art requests from this wishlist if I so desire and am able.
So basically, this is a list of "here's the art I will work on if I have time and feel up to it" list.
To add yourself to this list, read the following rules:
1) You must include WHICH fursona you want drawn.
2) You need to give me a link to a reference of YOUR fursona (not someone else's saying "I want it to look like this")
-If you don't have a reference of your fursona, just tell me. If I decide to do a drawing for you, I'll note you if I need any details.
3) You must tell me WHAT you want me to draw, in as much detail as possible. (In other words, don't just comment and say "I'd love to get art from you." If you want art, you need to come up with at least a general idea of what you want.)
4) If I have done art for you before, you may still add your name to this list, but you may only have ONE item on this list at any given time. (That is, if I do your request, you may add yourself to this list again, but not before.)
5) Do NOT NOTE ME to add yourself to the wishlist. Comment in this journal. You may, of course, note me with questions about it, but remember to include a subject line :)
6) This is NOT "first come, first served". This is, "Oh, that idea looks neat. I'll draw that." Or, "Eh, not really up to that right now. Maybe another time."
Here are things I will NOT draw. Please don't request any of these things:
1) Porn. I'm okay with some fetishy pieces and some artistic nudity, but nothing overtly sexual.
2) Messy diapers.
3) Feral characters.
4) Copyrighted characters/fandoms. This includes (but is not limited to):
*Sonic the Hedgehog
*Star Wars
*My Little Pony
*Digimon
I won't draw any of the above, or other copyrighted franchises (I will draw SOME Pokémon on a case-by-case basis, but that is rare.)

my idea was Crunch and Alioth snuggling together in a rocking chair as you read me a story before bedtime. ^^
Crunch would be wearing a thick diaper and sucking a pacifier, and Alioth could be wearing whatever you choose.

I'm thinking maybe a drawing of Zach and Alioth on a camping trip, maybe sitting in their tent? Zach in just a t-shirt, diaper, and possibly socks (leave that last bit up to you), and of course Alioth wearing whatever they want. OR maybe they're outside roasting marshmallows! ^^ Just general camping activities. If you don't wanna pick I'll decide on one. <3

So since you are a pilot and all, how about you give the fellow herofox a flight to his next stop on maybe a particular adventure? Or even a flight home. So I was thinking you could draw Max with his equipment next to him as he looks out at the window while he's sitting down and on the flight. It can be nighttime or sunset kind of time. You have art freedom on that part. If possible its kind of that picture similar to that one part in Kill Bill Volume 1 (If you ever saw it) where she's looking out at the window at sunset with her gear next to her.

This response tells me that you didn't read my entire journal. I specifically said two things in the journal: one, I occasionally make exceptions for Pokémon characters (as I obviously did in Crunch's case), and two, that this is nothing more than a wishlist. It's not just an open request list. I suggest you read the journal again so that you understand the full nature of it. As far as the fursona's lack of originality, that's one of the main reasons I don't do copyrighted fandoms. Another artist designed your character and came up with the concept; a quick look at your gallery reveals that there is literally nothing different about your Charizard than the ones in the original series, aside from the fact that yours wears a diaper. The reason there's "wiggle-room" in some cases is because a poochyena, for instance, is arguably just a canine-hyena hybrid and can be modified into a unique fursona. A Charizard, on the other hand, is pretty much exclusively available as-is. Taking away its key elements (like the tail flame, for instance) would make it not a Charizard. Sonic the Hedgehog and My Little Pony are just cookie-cutter art, and they simply don't match my art style. And aside from that, respect for copyrights is the law. Whether I personally agree with the law or not, I have to respect it. And just because other artists do it doesn't make it any more legal.

As an artist offering free art (and not even promising it at that), I am not obligated to explain myself or my reasons for accepting and refusing certain types of art, though I believe my above explanation is fairly comprehensive. As far as commissions are concerned, I have clearly posted terms and conditions which specifically say that I may reject a commission for any reason, with or without explanation. Anything I do from this journal is, in essence, a donation of my time and artistic resources. It's a bit presumptuous to think that an explanation is required for that.

I'm really glad you like my art - I do appreciate that. I realize I'm being a little harsh here, but I don't want you to think that I'm ungrateful for the fact that you like my art. That being said, however, unless you have wings, clawed hands, a flaming tail, and orange scales, your sona - physically - is not based off of you in real life. Sorry. You're a human being, and no amount of wishing or pretending will change that fact. The fact is that Charizard is not your creation, and you are not a Charizard. There is literally nothing holding you to that fictional species aside from the fact that you personally like it. I realize that as furries, we have a tendency to get attached to our fursonas. I do it too; it makes me happy when a friend from the fandom calls me on the phone and calls me "Alioth." But I'm not Alioth. Alioth is a character that represents something for which I feel an affinity. When it's impossible to separate your real self from a character that you have, you've closed off any possibility for artistic development - and you've set a dangerous precedent by saying, in essence, that the fictional world is more important than the real one. If you want a pertinent object lesson that you should be familiar with, consider the character of Molly from the third Pokémon movie. That's the danger.
I know this probably isn't what you wanted to hear, and I really am not trying to hurt your feelings. But you asked for an explanation, and I gave it. But the other thing I will say is that you'll get a lot further by having a reasoned discussion than by going in with a passive-aggressive attitude of, "Well, another artist bites the dust" (really? Just because I don't draw what you want, I'm no longer worthy of interest?). If you had wanted to know my reasoning, all you had to do was ask. I'm not being opaque about it. You can take what I've said to heart, or you can be defensive about it and be in denial of it - I hope you take it to heart, but I can't force you to; being defensive about it is only going to hurt you.
That doesn't address the fact that the Charizard is something that someone else created, meaning I don't have the LEGAL right to draw it. That would be art theft.

I'm not upset at all, and I wasn't overreacting; I was explaining. What I was reacting to was not the content of your post, but the passive-aggressive way in which you posted it...

That wasn't my point. My point is that you're attached to something that is not your creation and then you get defensive and upset because some artists don't want to subsidize that kind of plagiarism.

That's awesome, and I'm not being sarcastic when I say that. Astrophysics and quantum mechanics are awesome, and so is someone who doesn't mind a knowledge challenge ;)

Nothing wrong with either of those things. But being a fan of something doesn't give you the right to steal it (and you can say "it's not stealing", but by the law's definition, it is).

You CAN control whether your character is original or not. That's the entire point of this discussion. If you're upset that artists won't violate copyright laws, change your fursona so that they don't have to. You can create a character who has all of those personality traits without it having the physical qualities of a Charizard. Why settle for something that someone ELSE has created when you can create a character that is totally and completely yours? If you really want your fursona to reflect YOU, then why would you want to use something that someone else made?

3) I'd love to have a spanking picture drawn by you. It would be Caiden getting a bare bottom spanking with his diaper pulled down to his ankles over any other fursona's knee. If you're not into drawing spankings, a simple picture of caiden getting his diaper changed in a public restroom by the character of your choosing would be good as well.

Idea - I'll try to make it as detailed as possible. A pic of my sona Tarru (in adult form) wearing a diaper in a "photoshoot" setting for a "new" diaper brand. Standing up with a shy smile while suckling on a pacifier and blushing, one arm down his side while the other arm is across his midriff holding onto the arm that's down at his side. He's looking a little down towards the floor away from the cameraman, which is chu. Chur in that kneeling down pose with one knee up and the other down on the floor, smiling while holding the camera up to chur eyes for the picture. Chu can be wearing whatever chu want.
Thinking about it right now, the background could either be plain blue-ish wall, or for a more vibrant idea, a light blue sky wall with clouds. The diaper and/or the wall can have the brand name "aero padding" or something better that chu could come up with. Its like a.. diapers for pilots kind of brand, and chu could be wearing a pilots outfit. Just ideas.
Again, I understand if chu don't do this.
