Sean Rivercritic - Withdrawing from the FWG Election
11 years ago
Members and supporters of the Furry Writers’ Guild,
These last few months have been an adventure, and I’m glad to have been able to keep the guild alive and active for the time that I have. I’ve had a lot of help and support from you, and I’m really thankful for that.
I regret to say that, effective immediately, I will be withdrawing myself from the FWG Presidential Elections.
Please note that this has no bearing on my thoughts on the outcome of the voting. It has been brought to my attention on several occasions that, with my three jobs, I probably don’t have time to be running the guild. When I first took over, I only had my full-time job and my editing, so it wasn’t too bad. As of the last month I have gotten the third job, and that’s when my upkeep of the guild has started to decline. However, I’ve still kept going with it. It’s only now that I’ve had my real wake-up call. One of my pet rats has been sick lately, and instead of being able to take him to the vets, I have to wait until next week when someone is available to take him for me, simply because I work during all of the hours our vet is open. If I don’t have time to take care of my sick pets, how dare I think I have time to take care of the FWG.
So what happens next?
I have spoken to
Poetigress. Starting tomorrow, there will be a two-week period where another candidate may step forward and run against her. If by 5/24 at 11:59pm EST no one has stepped up, Poetigress will win by default and she will begin her term on June 1st. If someone does step up, they may immediately begin to campaign, and the debate thread on the forums will open back up. In that case, voting will begin on June 1st and end on June 7th. Whoever wins will begin on June 15th.
I will continue to oversee the guild until a winner is announced.
Concerning the Tales from the Guild, Volume I: Music to your Ears, I will continue to oversee that. I have just sent it to the publisher, and you can find out updates on that by following the AnthroAquatic Twitter feed. I hope to continue on with future anthologies as editor, but that will be completely up to the new president.
Again, I appreciate the support I have gotten from you all, and if you have any questions, feel free to either comment here, note me (
Shadowlord8) or send me an email (sean@anthroaquatic.com).
