The Fursuit Bug
I have always been a big fan of fursuits but after the recent RBW con in London, I find myself crazy about them. After meeting a few people in the fandom who are fursuiters and seeing the world through their eyes, I see now how much I would totally love to finally step into my own and become Joshua, my tiger fursona.
I feel its the next step in my evolution in the fandom. I am slowly becoming more active in the fandom besides submitting art work. Im now getting more involved in trying to attend more cons and fur meets. I feel becoming my fursona will be the most natural step I could move towards.
Now the next big move will be finding a fursuit maker that would best fit the style and embody the essence of what Joshua is all about. Tigers are not the easiest of animals to make into a fursuit. I'm thinking a more friendly cartoony look would work well for Joshua.
So if anyone has any ideas or knows of a fursuit maker that would best suit my character, it be awesome to hear from you. I'm probably not able to afford one right now but if i start commissions up again, i might be able to pay one off ^_^' Joshua is itching to get out there :3

oh, and fur piles
I am NOT saying this like it's a bad thing, ok?
some of it looks like fun, but not MY kind of fun is all.
there are a bunches of fursuiters around, and many who make suits. many of whom are in my watch list, if that helps you any.
most fursuits are more expensive than drugs
the rest are even more expensive than that
best of luck in getting Josh IRL, and post pics if and or when you do!
Note me Zen and i will ask him if you ca add him to MSN or something.

*is repeating himself*
That'll be a lot of tigers done by the same person roamin' around, heh.
And yeah... meeting suiters in Chicago kinda made me more curious about it as well xD
I have seen a few of there suits, some amazing work would be an understatement. ^^
The other major maker I'd suggest is Mixedcandy, but getting a commission from her can take a -very- long time. She does amazing work that holds up really well. My husband has a white tiger suit which he adores from Mixedcandy.
The third option I'd suggest is DontHugCacti. They are fairly new and have done a few tigers already. They are still open for commissions unlike many other makers (including the two above) who have long waiting lists.
I would avoid Scribblefox and Jax, as I've heard bad things about them and finishing suits. Scribble's stuff is more hyper-realistic anyways so it really doesn't fit what you're looking for.

The first being Lindsey at furhappens: http://www.furhappens.com/
She's very experienced and created a fantastic happy/friendly/cheeky look on my Alfa suit
The other being Ravyn at foxwolf: http://www.foxwolf.ca/fursuits.html
She has a wealth of talent and constructed a very handsome, regal wolf for my partner, with a cheeky/devious flair from certain angles.
These are who I've had dealings with and I'd recommend both. Couldn't quote whether they are open for commissions atm or even prices or wait times but they are worth checking out definitely.
Just remember, fursuit or not you are always welcome along to any Londonfur meet - but the more suits that come along each time, the merrier I say! =P
Hope that helped. ^^
PS - they both have accounts on here too: lindsey is

...yeah.
And coincidently, as Leoparda just said i thought immediately about badgerguy / rallicat fursuit.
Im pretty sure you'll quickly find a builder that will suit you !
Go for it ^^
Anyway good luck and have loads of fun.
Btw, what about just a paw / tail set or something like that?
Its pretty useful :3
Also the smiles that they give to people are awesome. I remember the last day at EF when the convention was over and we were sharing the hotel with conventional people, the faces of people and kids were just priceless :)
Case in point ^.^ --> http://www.furaffinity.net/full/1539470/
Arend Studios made mine and they make awesome toony suits :)
And very fast also. I got mine in just 3 months since I commissioned them. The downside is that they're quite pricey :P
This is mine if you're curious --> http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1864834/
Good luck with the search and keep up the awesome art! :)
I would mention a fursuit maker, but from my understanding she is very hard to get a hold of, and she is backed up to like 2012. That's all she does for a living is make fursuits. I use to know her personally, but she has changed quit a bit, and is no longer the friendly happy person I knew her to be, plus her suit range in the 3000.00+ dollars. I have looked over the other places that everyone here has mentioned, and honestly once I have the money I be choosing one from here. ^.^
Xan Steel
P.S. I'm looking to have two. One close to the skin Lifelike fursuit, and one toonie suit. ^.^
Xan Steel
To give you an idea check out the concept work for the suit I'm having made on my FA. That suit, however i t really turns out looking (Armor + realistic suit + cooling vest) is going to set me back at least 5500 USD, possibly abit more if I go iwth a higher end cooling vest (best one offered that I've seen would add another 200 to the price tag from the basic modle I'm aiming at right now).
Thats for a realistic style suit that also has a full suit of vacume formed plastic armor that goes over it. That is also with only a moving jaw and no animatronic options. I know if I wanted really cool toys put into it I would be looking at at least as mucha s another 500-2k if not more.
I'd do it too if I had that kind of money, but as it is part of the suit is going on the old credit card. Far more expensive in the long run to do it that way, but at least this way I can get the kind of suit I actually want.
I don't think he ever made any tiger suit, and I know he like new challenge, plus, he made a really nice zebra (http://www.arendstudios.de/en/gallery/index2.html) so no worries for stripes
and there is also Noble(http://www.furaffinity.net/user/noblewolf/), who made a really nice tiger suit (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1701715/)
there :)
If you want a realistic suit go with:
Primal Visions, http://www.primalvisions.com/
Lion of the Sun (they make great feline masks), http://www.lionofthesun.com/
...also Mixed Candy does some real looking suits as well as toonie (they've been mentioned before)
If you want to make your own I would check out the fursuitiing LJ community:
http://community.livejournal.com/fursuit/
As for makers.. Not the clue...
However.. When you get one.. I'd love to see some pics :D
Ive heard of a few ppl from places that can do a fairly good job on fursuits for a medium or low price.
if you do, I'll glomp you k?
Best of luck to ya!
A list from another user of fursuit makers, hopefully that link will help ya. I'm having a suit done by
but i know that i've seen
Their's a huge list of makers on they're. Scroll down a little bit mind ^^;
And theirs also stuff about supplies and methods encase you wanna try your hand at it yourself.
Hope that helps.

They do good looking fursuits from what I've seen.

Her suits have lots of personality, and she's reasonably priced. She made FoxB's suit.
A fursuit adds kind of a secondary experience to going to a con, and it gives kind of a thrill to walk up to a mirror and see your animal self looking back at you instead of your normal human one... that and suddenly everyone wants to hug you and take your picture. :o)
Lacy is also a really nice builder and a lovely person, definitely dependable and worth a look. :)
Jax, here on FA made mine. Here's some pics of mine

Not sure if this has been suggested or not, but she is pretty good, and fairly reasonable, methinks. Good luck Zen!

or
friday)....
1) They are expensive
2) They are BOILING
3) No matter how skinny-yet-voluptuous you are, a fursuit will never be as skinny-yet-voluptuous as Joshua.
If you can deal with those three things, GO FOR IT!
What i DO want is a demiglenn suit to have one of my smaller friends wear, so i can squeeze, snug and carry him around all day :D
he's my pride and joy..
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1086734/
I can't wait to see the suit that you get. I'm sure it will be awesome.

heh Zen, you will have to return the fursuit hug when you get yours.
^^
Hope that helps! ~(^.=.^)~

Now someone with skin-tight gloves, suit/bodypaint, rational shoes, and facepaint/prosthetics? THAT'S cool in my book. I dunno, the whole "big suit" thing just makes it too cartoony for my tastes.
.... All that said I'm not discouraging any choice you make! Just stating my own personal tastes... For... Some reason..
*hugs*
MixedCandy (mixedcandy.com) because LV can make *anything* look super cute!
B3Mascots (http://b3mascots.com/) (take a look at his *newer* suits, as he's improved greatly very recently!)
Luskwood, though I don't know too much about them, tends to make reaaaally cutesy totally cartoony suits, assuming you give them a good ref to work off of, as they draw their "style" from that. (luskwood.com)
And yeah, alot of the other people mentioned here are really good too! :3;;
I probably would have one myself if I could afford it, but because I live pretty far away from other people that are into the same thing I figure it would be kinda pointless.
but anyway,
here are some fursuiters on DA XD ( i dont know which ones are open for commissions though) that i think are good and i have seen tiger fursuits in their gallery that look pretty good :3
but in the end its your opinion on which one joshua would look better in :3
you might not like any of them XDD.
oh well then.
good luck on getting your fuirsuit!
and if you do open commissions ill be happy to buy one to help X3

Having done a great deal of performance in fursuits, please remember the single most important rule....
STAY HYDRATED!
For cartooony style and toonyness
and would seriousley recommend ukfur talent of
The guy who made my squeekyness
Dont hug cacti productions do fantastic work in that field
however... I would never wear a fursuit xD it really looks uncomfortable... I would just wear a leopard tail that would be sexy (?)
http://www.furaffinity.net/user/damaron/ His suit is pure murr,
http://www.furaffinity.net/user/nevermint/ wolf/deer is an interesting mix, but near flawlessly pulled off imho.
http://onefurall.com/gallery/thumbn.....s.php?album=66 and Unika, one of my all time favorite suits.
I just love the 'follow you' eyes that he does. They are always just right.
Here are a few videos with Scribble's suits in them ^^.

If ya need any more advice drop me a line - I'm always around
Difference was, I was quite skeptical of fursuiters, till I got to experience what you did: Seeing the word through their eyes.
Its a wonderful thing, being able to act as a character, and entertain others and make them laugh. There's some sort of satisfaction that can't quite put my finger on, but it feels good! =3
Personally, I think either LatinVixen's, Whitey Fawks' and Luskwood's have styles suitable to build Joshua =3

Say 'Hi' to Ice for me! =)
i just hope im a little less shy by the time i go to my first con someday. Least you've got a lot of options from everyone =P i love looking at all these links. good luck ZEN.
she is very very very very almost STUPIDLY cheap, and she's getting better with every suit you do.
If you havn't noticed- many fursuiters own multiple suits. I say you start off with a suit from Brio and then work up a good rep and fanbase, then you go look for a mmore professional and expensive artist to make you a newer, and more updated one if the opprotunity ever comes.
Brio is making me a mask, a tail, and FIVE BADGES for 50 bucks (and I supplied the fur)
So talk to her!!
Best of luck <3 Also- I make my own suits, though I'm not the best of artists, but I am most certainly cheap as dirt xD
My masks start at 100 <3
http://www.prefur.co.nr
Good luck! :D
Btw, have you checked out Noble Productions? It's where I got mine, and I couldn't be happy with it.
http://www.nobleproductions.org/index.html
Of course! If you think of it, we are all animals by nature!
I'm yappy that your interaction with other furries has had such a paw-sit-ive effect on you! It still has on me, after 10+ years!
