Part 61
>A/C tie, take the Alpha down no matter the cost. C, water magic.
(-20 Embarrassment from entering combat)
Without a second thought, you turn to Tilva and Phio for only a split second, telling them to aim for the big one. By the time you turn back to face the enemy, the lesser Yaggan are already inhaling for their fire breath attacks, but these are easy enough to avoid. It only took a step to the side to keep your fur from being singed; however the Alpha is a different story. A wave of flames emerge from it's maw, sending burning embers out the door and front windows almost simultaneously. Tilva's magic force field is enough to stop it from burning all three of you to a sheer crisp, and as soon as the inferno dissipates, the three of you charge forward to bring it down as quickly as possible. The lessers are unable to keep up with the speed of three trained Felinids, and their ranks break in a slight panic, giving just enough room to slip by and attack the Alpha directly.
(Attention Bonus: First strike, Yaggan Alpha loses HP at the rate of 10% of current Att level)
Yaggan Alpha: -8, 42 HP
You are the first to reach the impressive beast, stabbing it to the best of your ability with your finely sharp blade, but little blood is drawn thanks to the Alphas' thick, scaly hide. The potent mixture of toughness from malleable half-cat skin and rigid half-dragon scales was enough to deflect most physical blows. Tilvamido closes in behind you, willing into existance what looked like a blue-white spike made up of a material that you don't recognize, but makes you feel colder than the coldest you've ever felt as it flies past and hits the Alpha's side with a wet 'thwack.' You could tell that this magical attack did some damage, but not much, as only a couple of inches off this spike managed to disappear underneath the beast's skin. It seemed to merely enrage the Alpha, which is unfortunate for Phiodel, as he is the last of the trio to get into arms reach. As he brings his daggers up to go for the eyes, the Yaggan brings its tail up in a defensive posture and gives a mighty swing that catches Phio right in the jaw.
Phiodel, critical hit: -22, 7 HP
This is surely the first time you've ever seen anyone literally go flying through the air as a result of a physical impact. It was quite stunning, but what makes it all the worse is that it is Phiodel who does the flying. He lands on top of one of the smaller Yaggan Hunters, which happened to have it's head craned upwards in preparation to bite one of the morsels in its way. The critters neck is broken almost instantly. As you turn your attention to the brutally injured hunter, calling out his name in alarm, more cold spikes fling forward from Tilva's open paws in a continuous volley and dig into the Alpha's flank. One on it's own did very little to speak for, but a stream of them was a different story. It howls out as blood begins to pour from a widening wound, but again comes the tail. Tilva notices it in time and ducks to the side, ending up behind a thrashed table. Suddenly, you and the best chance of winning this fight are completely separated by broken furniture and the large beast that needs to be stopped.
Yaggan Alpha: 26 HP
You almost move for another attack, but notice that the Alpha is turning its head toward where Phio landed seconds ago... and taking a deep breath. It was about to launch another fire wave, and Phiodel was going to be caught in the blast before he could even have a chance to get to his feet. With Tilva at the opposite side of the room, he was in no position to protect anyone, meaning that this whole fight was ready to take a horrific turn. Without even the slightest instant of hesitation, you lurch forward, coming between the Yaggan and Phio, who is too busy struggling back onto his feet to protect himself. You know what is coming. You concentrate on dousing fire. Extinguising fire. Stopping fire with anything that could stop it. You feel your palms dampen with what you first think is sweat, but you quickly realize that your magic thing was acting up again. Both of your paws were suddenly surrounded in some type of blue aura, with drops of crystal-clear liquid bouncing off of each other within it. You don't have time to consider this.
Within the two seconds all of this took to happen, the Alpha's lungs were full, and it launched it's attack. Thankfully, your reflexes were faster, and you open your fingers to release the magic, hoping that you've learned enough from previous training to at least figure out how to build up and release. The result is an explosion of water- not in a hose-like spray, but a literal wave. The flames are extinguished on impact, and the smaller Yaggan Hunters are flung into the walls, causing cracks to form on Mora's home. By the time the wave disperses, every single thing within the room was drenched in water, hit by your intense magical attack. You suddenly feel woozy, as though you had just expended a strenuous amount of energy.
(Learned Tide during combat, all MP depleted.)
The smaller Yaggan were knocked out, but the Alpha, despite your efforts, remained standing. Thankfully it decided that facing you and Tilva, who is a bit stunned by your water wave and could not possibly get in the way of anything bigger than himself, is a bad idea without any backup. It slams it's tail into the wall behind it and retreats. As it runs down an alleyway, you remember the Yaggan pack that you and Phiodel had fought against alone a couple of nights ago. It seemed to go down quickly with your first fire spell, despite breathing fire itself. Maybe it would have been smarter to prepare fire attacks against the Alpha.
