Last night in the evening hours, I received a phone call from
aqb52 , otherwise known as Rusty Haller. He proceeded to tell me that his Mom passed away that afternoon, and he sounded like he was still in shock over it. She was 75 years old, and Rusty's main job was to take care of her. That was his full-time job.
We talked for a long time, and I even prayed with him a bit, nothing overly holy. Just a chance to help him calm down. Rusty lived with his Mom, and together with whatever artist commissions he earned and her monthly government check, they were able to get by. Rusty doesn't have a job, and he is an older fur.
But right now I'm concerned for his welfare. We talked about him getting a job that might also be able to allow him continue his fantastic art. We talked about him being able to make rent now that Mom is gone. His sister might be able to help, but I'm not sure.
All I'm asking you is if you have the chance to help him out financially, please consider doing so. Financially, he's confronted with future rent, his hospital emergency bill, and his own health care. Also, if you can, please post a condolence shout on his page or PM him. I know it would help a LOT. As you may know, in his last journal he posted that he discovered he had Diabetes. It devastated him, and two days later his Mom passes away! (I also have Diabetes and have been helping him cope. Both of us rely on oral meds, which is a cheaper way to go if you don't have any medical insurance, like him and I).
I hope you can help him in some way. By the way, if you cannot help financially, PLEASE don't post that here, like us furs sometimes do. I think it would hurt him inside if he saw that, especially since he just lost his Mom. If you really need to tell me you can't, PM me, but it's not necessary.

As for the diabetes...I guess it's a good thing that it isn't type I. I don't think it's possible to take care of type I without medical insurance or a lot of money. On the other hand, balancing your diet sounds more painful than all those shots I have to do...
Its just complicated.
