He told me I was good, I was great in customer service, I was always on time
and I made all the customers happy. I still don't know why, but yeah it sucks.
Now I'm the odd man out in my family.. once again

really odd... but hey, search stuff... you weren't fired, laid off is almost never the employee's fault so it shouldn't hinder your possibility for a new job. Ask if you can list a coworker for reference in future employment, perhaps that will help.

Well it sucks but you did mention that they were planning to only keep 60 of the 90 they hired. Odds are even with the high rating there were more with the same that just got ahead of the curve. Sucks, but that's how a new store opening works in this day. Could be worse, california just upped their minimum wage so the jobs here and very scarce as is and even ones with jobs are looking at being let go at anytime.
