Taking a cue from the Auburn Furbowl, we are going to have an optional outdoor park meet to be held at 4 p.m. at Slater Park before the furbowl itself. It's a chance to meet, talk and fursuit before all the noise and chaos of the bowling alley. Again, this is an optional event, and you don't have to go to the park first. Follow this link for details: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/5980302/
Rhode Island Furbowl 29 will be held on Saturday, August 9 at 7 p.m. at East Providence Lanes at 80 Newport Avenue, East Providence, RI. (MAP IS HERE)
There is no cover charge for attending, but the cost for bowling is $10 per person. I will collect your money during the event and use it to pay the staff. Some people have been choosing to pay with their debit cards, so please bring that to my attention so we can handle that at the front desk.
The last furbowl went really well, and we were more well-behaved than the youth group that showed up that night! I'm glad that attendance is picking up, and more people are expressing their interest in coming by.
However, there have been some personal concerns about some of the people who were in attendance at the last furbowl. I won't go into the details, but I want to once again state that we have a Code of Conduct linked below. If anyone makes you feel uncomfortable at any meet or if you see something not quite right that would be in violation of the CoC, please contact myself,
shy_tiger,
sanguisvarga or
matthew_the_wolf that night. We want to address any issues right then and there. Do not wait until after everyone has left.
As for the location of the post-furbowl dinner, I am taking a suggestion to head down to Thayer Street on College Hill in Providence. You'll find dozens of restaurants there with everything from burgers, pizza and burritos to Indian, Thai and Korean food. Check out these Yelp reviews of the restaurants in the area. It is about a 15-minute drive from the bowling alley. My best suggestion would be to park on the street about a block away and then walk. We'll try to meet at the intersection of Waterman Street and Thayer Street. You are encouraged to eat wherever you want, even if that means splitting up the group. I would strongly recommend NOT wearing a fursuit in the area, but tails and ears are fine.
---
Code of Conduct: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3321444/ Please be on your best behavior and use common sense. There will be families and children present. Please be courteous to the other guests of the alley. You are representing the Furry Fandom while you are there.
Ears, tails, collars and fursuits are welcome. A room will be provided as changing space and a break area for fursuiters. Please be aware that this is taking place at the same time as Cosmic Bowling when the lights are dimmed and loud music is being played.
There is a bar at the alley and all standard Rhode Island alcohol consumption laws are in effect. Underage drinking is not allowed and do not buy drinks for those who are underage. If you do drink, please do so in moderation.
Please RSVP on this journal or contact me,
CirrusSkyDragon. Please let me know if you and your friends are coming and if you will be bowling and/or fursuiting.
