You should be able to use previous save files in it, but I recommend starting from the beginning.

New features:
Stuk Castle now has a few more people, including King Dorfin's family. The princess references Dragon Quest, and so do one of the books in the castle library.
The game's second and third story quests are included, as well as a few fun things.

What you can do (part 2) :
Collect and sell resources from enemies (there is an adventurer in the Nice Rest Inn (in Stuk) who will tell you more about them)
Get an explanation from a maid at the Nice Rest Inn about save crystals.
Explore the first area of the main map
train at the "battle tent" or buy any of the first four weapons
fight a mimic
journey up the first tower
fight the first main boss.

Edit: Oh geez... I left the pentagrams in! The ones in the church are fine, but I still had to remove all of them. Please delete the current versions you have and download version 2.1. They have the pentagrams removed.
