Help me fund a servicedog | ♥Thank you♥ | Art for donati
11 years ago
Hi there!
First of all, thank you so much for taking your time looking at my page. My name is Hannah and I'm an 18 years old student (for 2 shorter days a week at least which is all I can handle!) living in Sweden. I live and suffer with fibromyalgia (chronic pain, but also comes with fun things like fatigue, unable to keep normal temperatures, often feeling hot and cold on the same time, IBS, sleepproblems, migraine, sensitivity to infections, bad balance and a lot more fun things),aspergers syndrome,ADD,chronic depression,GAD,panicattacks, hallucinations, obsessive compulsions
and paranoia to mention a few things. As you might have figured out I spend a lot of time in hospitals and psychiatrics as well as habilitation (and home). I can't do a lot of things healthy persons can do. On bad paindays I can't even get out of bed because of the pain and fatigue, and even when I can I have to deal with lots of chronic pain and fatigue as well as my other problems. I always have to rely on other people taking care of me when I've got bad days, which is very stressful seeing as I only have my best friend to do that, and if that is taken out of the picture I've got no one. I am far from independent, I take someone with me pretty much wherever I go, I ride disability cab instead of public transportation, can only handle to study two days a week from 9-13, I have lots of help from psychiatrics, doctors and homeaid. This all is due to my healthissues. While Sweden has "free healthcare" a lot of things will still cost you, which isn't easy when you're on a student's income. It's not unusual for me to have several meetings a week with doctors, psychiatrists and the habilitation staff, as well as having my homeaid come here 1-3 times a week and calling me every day. A lot of these things cost, as well as all the medicines I have to take which is steadily increasing. I just recently had to up my antidepressants again as well as had to buy a walking cane. I can easily have to spend 100 usd a month (or more, this month it was 150) only for medication. (I currently have 14 standard pills a day, usually some extra)
Now to the goal with this funding...
(the goal might seem extreme but service dogs are very expensive here being uncommon and having to be paid for all by ourselves. HERE is a great link about why they cost so much.)
I want to be able to get a servicedog to help me become more independent and make me able to do things normal people can, with less suffering too. I want the dog not to rely on but rather to become more independent. I want to be able to survive by myself and get through my paindays by myself. I cannot rely on anyone always being there anymore.
I want to do things myself, anything that a healthy person can do! I want to be able to buy groceries, do laundry, make breakfast by myself in the morning, survive by myself on bad days, be able to use public transportation, go to the mall, be able to walk places without it being torture!
The dog would learn how to retrieve named objects for me (VERY useful when I'm stuck in bed and need medication, phone, food etc), pick up things i drop (I drop things without noticing it a lot), pick up things from the floor, open drawers, pull me forward when the fatigue is too bad or in places like stairs, support my balance, open lids (like the one on the trashcan i usually can't reach myself), calm and notice/alert panicattacks before they go to far, put things away, help with laundry, get me my medc, wake me up when my alarm goes off, interupt selfharm, provide a buffer/shield for me in crowded areas, extinguish flashbacks and overloads by bringing me into the here and now, provide deep pressure during panic attacks, stand behind/in front of me or circle around me to create a barrier, help pull off socks or shoes and more.
Except for these great tasks it would also provide me warmth (soothes the pain a lot), security, independence, make me exercise more (which is really though to get yourself to do when you're dealing with this pain but it helps in the long term!), make social connections easier and enable me to do a lot of things I can't now, like going places by myself and surviving without other persons always helping me out.
Having this dog should provide me with a much higher level of independence, exercise, energy, social connections and security as well as just enabling me to live a more normal life with less pain. It would mean the world to me to get a bit of my life back and manage to do things on my own, with help of 4 paws. Every little bit helps, really. Even if you cannot donate you can help by spreading the word. Thank you so much for reading!
Love, Hannah.

I will definitely boost this and donate; I wish the best for you!!!
Thank you soooo so much, this means the world to me, really. You're helping out with something that will change my life.♥
And no need to thank me, it's a joy for me to help out c':
I really appreciate it and no hurry♥♥
I am so sorry that i cant donate anything, i just started college so i am broke as broke can be right now but i really wish you the best on this, i knowhow much dogs like these can help a person. Best wishes and good luck! dont give up!
They can truly do wonders
I'm not a great artist but would love to help!
here is an example of my work
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/13916695/
I have Fibromyalgia, Aspergers, PTSD, and Depression as well. I also suffer from a condition called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Type IV.
I understand your daily struggles. My own service dog has greatly enhanced my life and I understand the benefits of having one.
I live on disability so I understand the money issue as well. I wish I could donate, but unfortunately I can't.
I'll think of something I can do to help.
For now, good luck and best wishes.
I'm so sorry you have to live with that, I know how awful it is, well except from EDS, only heard about it.
What does your servicedog help you out with? you don't need to answer if you don't want to just curious if you've thought of some task i haven't thought of yet <:
He also provides a general feeling of safety while out in public, which is amazing. Dogs can be trained to watch your back if you say have to use an ATM or are paying for something.
I also get out more to exercise him and he's a great ice breaker because I'm not good at talking to people or knowing what to talk about.
He licks your kisses when you cry and is the best friend ever.
I've thought of something I can do to help.
I run an Etsy Shop. https://www.etsy.com/shop/ACuriousMenagerie
We are interested in doing either an auction or a raffle for you. Winner would get a custom totem by us, and all proceeds will be donated to your gofundme.
I'll hammer out the details and ensure you get an updated link to the info.
and that idea sounds great, it would be so kind and generous of you ;u; just make sure you can handle it, i don't want to exhaust you!
I'll make a nice tumblr, facebook, and FA journal post for it. But it'll take me a while to get all my ducks in a row. Shouldn't take more than a few days though.
Journal is up. I'll be posting on FB and Tumblr as well.
I cannot thank you enough for this ;v; and thank you for spreading the word, it means a lot
That's incredibly helpful! You're so sweet! <333
And yeah I really hope so too, it would turn my life around to the better, way better
I hope so too
How's your funding going?
It sucks it costs a fortune here. In Sweden it costs 25-30 000 USD
I did find a place in ireland that hopefully will be willing to work with me though for around 13 000..which well, still is a lot!
Good luck
Oh yeah I remember seeing you, your suit looked stunning! Will you be at this NFC? Your suit will fit right in with the theme!
NFC was very very hard for me but I'll go this year too, just try to stand up for myself as in say no when people randomly touch or hug me. Someone even lift me up and another sat on me last year xX which caused shutdown and lots of pain
My new walking cane just arrived so I'll rely on that for now for walking..haha
I'm here if you ever need to talk too!
i really just need to get the money, fundraise, then I can have the dog in a couple of month
A mobility dog would help a lot haha
Would have both mobility/physical disability as well as psychiatric/autism tasks
Check out boldleaddesign
Let me know!

I did my senior thesis in high school on the use of animals in the medical field, so I know how important it is in a lot of cases. I really hope you're able to reach your goal soon, and if things stabilize for me a bit more financially soon, you can be sure I'll toss you a bit more. <3
There's the Tumblr link so people can signal boost!
