CeeGee's Pokemorph Setting: Current Storylines
11 years ago
This list is for the many of you who have asked me, in one way or another, "what's the big difference between my personal setting and PCA"? The answer? Well, for the most part, very little, aside from a few name changes and the fact that I DO have some side stories that are outside the schools themselves starring more adult characters. And among these settings are the following:
"Poke-DJ" (character examples: Trebel the Chatot, Skyflower the Shaymin, Voxy the Whismur, etc.): Inspired by the massive electronica concerts set up by the likes of Tiesto, Deadmaus and even non-electronica musicial events like Yanni, the idea is basically trying to visualize what would the Pokemorph equivalent of competitive Contest battles would look like on a massive scale, with dance and music and, yes, the integration of pokemon moves into the mix making for some spectacular performances on a global scale. Ideas for this come in two forms: Showing off the competing DJs doing what they do best as well as showing them to still be individuals with their own aspirations and dreams while the second form would be in the form of showing off the concerts themselves, be it in a nightclub or something grander. Some of you have already witnessed a sample of what I have in mind in these two classic pics of mine.
"Unova Soccer League" (character examples: Pandora the Scolipede, Inka the Sceptile, Victor the Victini): Inspired by the World Cup and Ye Olde Average Sports Movie, as well as a want (at the time of its creation) to do something different with the pokemon from Black/White/Black2/White2. The story of a ragtag bunch of wannabee soccer pros being led by Victor, a literal diamond in the rough, as despite being a Legendary, his home life left a lot to be desired. When Pandora finally discovered the young prodigy, it was he who sparked hope into her heart that her little team from Castelia might have a chance to make it to the top. Of course, she knows very well a mere young Legendary's not going to be enough to make it to the big leagues, so they're going to have to work their tails off if they ever want to have a chance against the other teams, including the long-time champions from Hoenn...
"AIRLOCK'D, aka the Underground Pitfighting Setting" (character examples: Anji the Mawile, Long the Pikachu): So funny thing. The very reason I ever started up my idea to draw pokemorphs to begin with came about with one simple question: "If Pokemon had humanlike bodies, what would they look like fighting? And if they had the sense of reasoning as a human as well, WHY do they fight?" And one of my earliest explanations for how Pokemorphs even came to be was from scientists, both good and those alligned from Team Rocket, were picking out the DNA from some of the most powerful and well-known trainer-owned Pokemon in existence to create their super-soldier pokemon (fun fact: Meghan herself started life as a pokemorph born from the DNA of Gym Leader Blaine's Magmar, while Long himself has the DNA of the most powerful pokemon of them all: Ash's Pikachu). Now while I've long since moved on with the PCA-born idea that humans have not been around for a very, very long time and thus pokemorphs are pretty much left to their own devices, I still like to play with the idea that old instincts don't just die that easily, especially the instinct to fight other pokemon. Which is where AIRLOCK'D comes from; AIRLOCK'D is the name of a nightclub (with an obvious Rayquaza theme, perhaps even owner?) that holds a secret: late at night, after its normal patrons leave, it opens up its underground basements to allow for illegal pitfights for pokemorphs who think they got what it takes to beat some of the strongest pokemorphs around without things like "rules" and "moral decency" getting in the way like they would in properly-sanctioned leagues. There have even been cases of actual League-level fighters who use pitifighting rings like the ones in AIRLOCK'D to hone their skills while also making some extra cash. There are many of these types of rings all around the world, though the AIRLOCK'D nightclub in Hoenn is especially noteworthy due to its love for flashy fighters, of which Anji is but one of its more popular examples of this.
"Kalos Café" (character exampls: Jicky the Spritzee, Gustave the Furfrou): This one is, obviously, the newest of the bunch, with a simple enough setup: Jicky the Spritzee is the owner of Café Fée, a tiny little hole-in-the-wall coffee shop in Lumiose City. Like many Spritzee, Jicky fancies lovely aromas, with freshly-ground coffee being Jicky's most beloved aroma of them all. The story here would be a significantly more relaxing, slice-of-life tale of Jicky's life and the many people that come to visit her cafe.
Then there's the still-not-actually-named School/College setting itself that includes most of my old PCA alumni, as well as a couple of new faces here and there whenever an idea strikes. This and the side-stories technically exist in the same overall "setting", though typically not in the same locations or even timelines, so characters from each "plot" have little chances to meet save for special events or secondhand, like a student character being a fan of a Poke-DJ or something.
More will be added as time goes on.
