CeeGee's Pokemorph Setting Masterpost
(apologies for spam, this is the last of it for today, I swear)
So this came to me while talking to folks in the Pokemon Stereotypes topic from a while ago, as well as something that I've been noticing as of late, usually with new watchers. Many of you know the story by now (and will note it to be vague at points, which is intentional), but I need to tell this quick summary before we can get to the real topic of this journal.
Yes, I used to be in PCA (short for Poke-Combat Academy), an Alternate Universe Pokemorph, themed High School setting created by ebonyleopard alongside a few other artists, myself included. It started off as a simple exchange of drawings of our pokemorph characters interacting -- in fact, this one was the one that started it all, after some talking with EL himself -- and it kind of snowballed from there. As interest grew for the setting from both myself and others, I made the ceegee account to house my future Poke-art and started to exchange ideas with others who also showed interest in the setting, some good and bad. Rules were attempted to be placed there for the sake of consistency, but as many saw "rules" as another word for "boring" this did not really stick. Add the fact that there was little to no way to really *enforce* said rules in the grand scheme of things and you have yourself a big steaming pile of chaos to put up with, both good and ill. Ultimately, drama among the masses led to PCA's eventual downfall as a community-based setting, though there are a few stragglers here and there that still try to keep the name alive, even though PCA has long since stopped being about Pokemorphs in High School a long, long time ago.
That said, many of the *ideas* that flowed about during that era still hold some merit, at least enough for me to work with with my *own* separate setting for my own pokemorphs. Said setting has no name of its own, though one joke-idea that came to me was to name it "IChooseU", after my old, ancient idea for a AU High School/College Pokemorph setting that I had developed during my own High School days that never went past a few sketches before EL's idea came along and revived my want to do more with it. The sketches in question (which I warn were done when I was in High School and back when Pokemon Red/Blue were still new) can be found here, here, here and here. While most of those characters never really took off, a few of them did get some new life thanks to the PCA, for which I am grateful for. Will I ever revive the others? That is a topic for another day.
Anyway, as the two points I wanted to make on this are MASSIVE, I went and separated them into two journals:
You're free to comment and critique on either one (or here), but ultimately this is my setting and what I'm doing for said setting. If you wanna borrow any of these ideas for your setting? That's cool, no need to thank me. Just sharing for the sake of showing you guys a it of what goes on in my head sometimes.
