I know it sounds stupid. i know it sounds selfish...
I've seen a lot of supportive journals and these "These artists will do art for the highest donator" fundraisers...
I need money. Its not for me. And yes, its a need. Not want. Theres a big difference between the two.
A friend of mine has fallen on really hard times. You've heard this song and dance before from different people I'm sure but here are the details:
-He's actually quite sick, but because he can't afford to go to a clinic (and no, there are no free clinics around where he is, we've checked...) We're pretty sure he needs to be on medication for some of the issues he's having, but that means more money, especially since he can't afford insurance right now...
-He lives in kinda the boonies and so finding a job, even at a fast food restaraunt is hard... small town people take all the jobs before "outta towners" do... and even tho he's lived there for less than a year, he's still an out of towner. And a late 20s white guy. He has lots of skills and even a CDL (I think thats what its called...) but there are no jobs around there for that... And yes, he's been trying to find a job. He goes at least twice a week to a lot of different places to apply but he's running out of places to go.
-Rent and Food. These are kinda staples for living right? Not having a job + selling everything you can (I mean everything. He's got a shitload of stuff on Craigs List, even his RC cars, which are his life hobby) doesn't really pay the bills. Half the time its a either or... which sucks. I've been there, I know.
So, I'm accepting donations on his behalf. I'm leaving his name and information out cause its kind of a pride thing. He doesn't beg and this would be considered begging in his eyes. If you know who I'm talking about, and there is a select few of you who do, don't contact him about it. Don't talk to him about it. Please don't be an ass about this. I'm doing it because I feel its my duty to care for those closest to me.
Someone once told me "You can't help anyone else, unless you're able to take care of yourself first." I can right now. As far as funds and life goes, I'm pretty peachy. But he's not. And he's high on my list of people to care for/about.

Yeah, I want to help if I can. I just need to know how bad of a situation things are at so I know where you need to be in my support journal.
I got 4 categories:
1) Extreme Risk - You have no home, no job, and have been thrown out on the streets.
2) High Risk - You are about to lose your home, have no job, and need money to pay the rent.
3) Great Risk - You can make rent and do have a job, but the pay is lousy. Other bills are piling up and you need help paying them.
4) Good Risk - You can make rent and have a job that pays decently, but need some extra cash to be able to continue doing things here on FA (like a new tablet, hotel room for a con, etc.)
Some folks have been able to get off the list thanks to things turning around for them.
With any luck, I'll be able to help get you some support for your friend too.
Let me know what category suits your friend best, and I'll make sure to list him.

I'm still unemployed right now, and if things keep going on the way they have been, I can't help but feel that I'm next... but I may as well pitch in what I can, pay it forward... because I know when push comes to shove, my friends would do the same for me.

I wish to offer, but with my situation, I can't... And it isn't helping that my great aunt just passed away yesterday AND mystery bitch just stole another heap from us...

you have to take care of you first. You're someone I'd help out too if I could.. which makes it almost impossible for me to comprehend you donating when you need the money more
