In which Windows does the Fish Slapping Dance + Movie Rec
16 years ago
So, I seem to have gotten everything worked out. As it happens, it's not a virus or anything (/sigh of relief), but my Windows Explorer failing on me. For a cause, it seems that this happens when Windows is unable to physically locate the file on the computer.
Hmm...
I can't imagine it being that hard to find, it having been around for the past few years. But as it is, it's gone. Or rather, leaving, as I can get my icons and toolbar back, but it flickers on and off for the remainder that I'm on the computer. Which is quite irritating, especially if I want to go into My Documents, since it automatically exits that every time it flickers off (giving me a grand total of 15 seconds every time I open it to find what I want).
In order to fix this, a Windows re-install is necessary. Joy. The good news is that I still have all the driver discs for my Laptop (score one for the packrats!), the bad news is I left them at home (I guess I was just hoping Windows could go on living without them. I was wrong), so it'll be a few days before I get them. Assuming my parents find them at home, since I'm not exactly sure where I left them (and I'm the type who thinks clutter makes for cozier living, so it'll be a tough task for them to find them).
Until then, I must contend with my toolbar having it's own little seizure, and make a mental note to myself to begin looking around for a new laptop (which, naturally, I can't afford). I can still get to everything, so I should be able to go back onto MSN and the internet regularly (since I know how empty you all are without me around).
Anyway, it's Monday, so time for another Movie Recommendation of the Week (which will be short, since I'm pressed for time right now):
An amazing movie if there ever was one. Flawless stop-motion animation, a fairly creepy storyline, interesting characters, and a genuine Psychonauts feel to it all (seriously, this is basically the spirit of that game in movie form). It's a fantastic movie for people of all ages, and one that I urge you all to go and enjoy.

I also detected some feelings of the final level in The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, but that might be stretching things.
Kudos to you for favorite game choice, since Psychonauts is crazy good
One example: There's two sisters who used to be in the circus, and they reminded me a lot of that girl who has the Theater mindset.
Go watch it and see for yourself!
Just pop in an external HDD, and use cmd to copy all the files over.
You don't need Explorer to make backups!
Though I think I get what you mean, I'll try that (that's just the little bar you get when you want to Run New Task in the ctrl-alt-delete screen, right? Sorry, I know very little about computers).
A quick Google search turned up this.
It shouldn't be a big deal, most of my stuff is already backed up. It's just a matter of a few more files here and there I want to save.
Kim and I want to see Coraline, but it's not playing at our little podunk theater yet.
Where are you guys? It got a wide release so it should be playing everywhere.
Probably will go there, but will have to wait till Kim and I's schedule syncs up again, next week.
