Or they can be in the middle of a duel but "going at it" with each other while having their weapons drawn towards the other kind of thing if it makes sense xD

Why not some magic added with sword fighting! Razen can somewhat use fire magic, at least rather simple fire casting (as well as illusionary fire that doesn't actually burn) and more powerfully lighting magic. That too can have variety, depending of his state of mind, neutrally the lighting has purple tone, similar to color of Razen's eyes. More peacefully it is precise and accurate like surgeon's knife, then blue. Or if enraged and full of fury, all red and destructive! XP

If from any of those for now, perhaps it could still go with the purple coloring if choosing to give Razen any lighting magic showing. either in his other hand and sword on another, or perhaps having electrified his blade with lighting... I know lots of ideas XP

Hand to hand would be better. Swords and bows don't match up too well cause one guy will be trying to get close, and the other trying to make distance.
