So, As much as I keep re-watching the Ghost animation and reading through the comments for the various theories on what people think is the story to the animation itself, I cannot help but wonder what others think or if they agree with the current theories that have been stated.

The characters all have names if you didn't already know
Blue = ViVi
Yellow = Author
Red = Mystery
Skeleton/Purple = Lewis
So far I think the one that I can agree with mostly is the idea thrown out by Korey Nedza
"The locket part is what drives this to be a lot more symbolic - maybe the whole house experience was just more metaphorical for the girl forgetting about Lewis's tragic death, aswell as Arthur struggling to cope with his guilt. From here, you can take Arthur's part a few more ways: maybe he only THINKS he 'killed' Lewis, when in reality, it really wasn't his fault entirely. The reason Lewis chases them, from there, is that they both fear he'll be angry with them; with the girl for moving on, and with Arthur for doing what he did.
The part I really wanted to get at and am almost sure of is the very end, though! Lewis closes the locket and everything fades away... Maybe it was just that the girl had finally left him behind entirely?"

Then I will present to you my own theory :O because this is the internet and that is what people do apparantly!
I think the whole story that being told is not symbolic and actually plays out as seen O= but there are a few hints here and there that suggests that Mystery isn't who he seems to be.
Like many theories start, I also think that they are a bunch of friends which are travelling togethery in a Mystery bus kinda like Scooby Doo... well it seems very inspired of it!
And they come across the Mysterious Cave, which they enter for whatever reason. You can already see that Author might be jealous of them... or not o= that part is kinda optional for my theory.
Cause you see them split up with ViVi taking another route and being seperated from the other three. And at the cliff it happens O:
You kinda see the shot with Mystery being shown quite shadowy with glowing eyes... might imply that something is not entirely right about him.
-Either there was a spirit dormantant in Mystery which took advantage of this situation or a spirit just coming from the cave. Both sound possible to me cause it is shown that Author first gets possessed through his later mechanically possessed arm O: and Mystery bites it off... maybe causing said spirit to transfer into him.
I am not sure of either really <w< Mystery is also portrait of very very warry like real dogs do when danger is imminent. The spirit is shown as a Kitsune once briefly in the mirror/portrait after the flashback... having the same eyes glowing eyes like he does with Author's arm in his mouth.
The reason why I think it's a mirror... because you see earlier another mirror that cracks as soon as Mystery would be reflected within O: ... showing that somehting is not right with him. Right after that the magic from Lewis heart errupts and shows a sequence of Author's arm being zombiefied D: as well as a heart in his eye maybe representing his jealousy.. and right after Vivi with her eyes being affected <w> ... Maybe same kitsune magic did mess with her brain to not remember Lewis anymore... a trick of said Kitsune spirit to cause more pain/grief or to utterly destroy Lewis for whatever reason O=
I also don't think either of them recognizes the skeleton as Lewis except ViVi who gets the suspicion/breaking the spell when trying to touch the heart. But that gets stopped by Mystery and Author pulling her away to make an escape O=
Well Zee/Kitsune spirit succeeded then in fully breaking Lewis... cause the entire house vanishes afterwards with him crying. <w< also that happens all in the same withered forrest where the cave originally was.
Oh god I am not good at this <w< my points are all over the good damn place
Which leads to mystery. I think he may just have been at the right place at the wrong time. We see in the video Author's arm slowly turn green and rise up in his body, next slowly turning his head green, his eye blackened with a green iris leading to Lewis' death. Which leads to the theory of mystery revealing his true identity of the 6 tailed demon fox as he rips off Author's arm to spare his life/stop the transformation into the monster/demon
