BEGIN JOURNAL SPECIES: Lyna
LANGUAGE: They make sounds ranging from very low pitched to high pitched and have a extremely limited range of sounds they make to indicate discoveries, dangers and otherwise communicate with each other.
PLACE OF ORIGIN: The planet of Kolan
CLIMATE: On land it is rather hot and humid, there are giant flowers and lush vegetation covering the earthy regions of the planet. Much like that of a rainforest there are many colorful animals and plants, both of which can be extremely deadly.
HAIR/FUR/SKIN: They can have any type of hair, and they are often covered with a short thick layer of fur, the tails have a transparent layer of armor-like scales over the skin which protects them from cold.
TAIL: Most have a snake like tail which bears a mask on its face, the tail is alive and a separate entity from the main body. The snake is blind and relies on touch, sound, and taste to move. The mask on its face is always decorated with a Sugar Skull, the type of sugar skull varies however. The snake resembles a king cobra and can throw out its hood if it senses danger. The bones along its body vibrate quickly and can create a sound like that of a rattlesnakes rattle.
EARS/EYES: The ears pick up both sound and movement and can rotate nearly 360 degrees. The eyes are blind but can pick up light in extreme amounts. Most eyes are a pastel color with a cloudy sheen to them.
FACE: The face of the main body does not have a nose, the body relies on the tail to smell.
SIZE: Males can grow to 7 feet tall, females can grow to 6 and a half feet.
MATING: These creatures are aggressive and they can get quite territorial. They can mate two times a year, gestation is roughly 4 months, and they mate and bond with a select partner for life. Which, with their shorter life spans, isn't too surprising.
LIFESPAN: Can live up to 50 years. When they are born they resemble small noseless manx kittens with a soft egg like object on their tails, As they become toddlers (after a year) their tails hatch and begin to grow. By the time they reach childhood their jewel/jewels begin to grow in and they can start practicing their selected magic. As teenagers they select a profession based on their type of magic. When they hit 18 years old their horns and bone cages grow in as a symbol of their sexual maturity. By the age of 20 they grow hooves and can take longer trips away from home or even start a new village in another area.
COLOR VARIATIONS: Can have most colors of the rainbow, it is very rare to see any metallic colors but not entirely unheard of.
DIET: The main body is mostly herbivorous, eating only plant life and the occasional bug or two. The tail however is strictly carnivore, injecting its victims with a paralyzing poison before eating it slowly.
RARE FEATURES: 3 jewels, other snake tails, several different cuts of jewels, or a unicorn horn
VERY RARE: 4 jewels, mouth tails, no mask on the tail, not having the bone cage around the body or tail, having multiple pairs of ears, having 2 tails, gazelle horn, or non cloven hooves.
NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE: 5 jewels or more, a regular non living tail, no jewels at all, having a nose, having more than 3 pairs of ears, having 3 or more tails, antlers, or a goo like body.
