Thank you! I really think that I might play around with this idea. I'm already beginning to see characters, but they're not really speaking to me, just yet It's odd, but I can't even begin to think about writing without a clearer vision of the characters. I guess we'll see, though

But male dominancy in cats can be so annoying tho.XP We got a couple a males who can't find nothin better to do than fight because of the females around our place. It's soooo annoyin when your outside doin somethin and all you can hear is, "MEEEEOOOOUUURRRRAAAR" and the ding-fodge cats are 4 foot from each other.XD

I know what you mean! Luckily, I'm on a fifth floor building, so I only hear the toms go at it when they're especially noisy! But, I'll definitely keep this in mind when I get down to writing! Thanks!

No problem.=) They also gotta problem with pickin on a very timid male we got. He's one of my favorites and it makes me wanna kick them and say, "Will ya leave the poor guy alone!"XD

I had that problem with a cat, too. I have an older male and my sister found a stray kitten. She begged me to let him stay with me, so I did but, after a while I noticed that he was attacking and bullying my poor Azul. So, I went and got him neutered, hoping that that would help...but, it didn't. He just continued to pick on him, ferociously. So, I finally just had to give him away. But, Azul is much happier and healthier now that he's the only cat in the house, again.

Aw that stinks. But if it makes life easier on your other cat I guess it's for the best. Luckily tho, we have never gave any cats away. Or gotten any either for that matter. They just show up! Since their all outdoor cats we pick up strays alot because we provide food and other cat company. And the cats we have have kittens and that adds to our population. It's sad when one of our cats dissappears. We don't know whether they were killed, found a different place to live, or what. Also one of our females somehow got into a fight when she was much younger and she's been blind in one eye ever since. It's not like she's a mean cat. She's very playful, I just don't get what they were fightin' over.

Aww... You have a bit of a cat sanctuary, then ...poor blind cat. You remind me of a fellow who leaves food out for the cats (I guess that's what he's doing) on the street. He leaves fish and chicken and sometimes he even leaves cat food (or, it could be dog food) in the summer.

Say, do you mind if I use some of these elements in the story? The blind cat would be interesting to include.

I don't care at all. It's an honor.^^ But I've never heard of being a cat sancuary, although it's probably pretty close to the truth. Although a few years back we had some kinda plague come through and killed several, it was kinda sad. But the cat with one blind eye is kinda hugging up to the timid one. I think they'se a couple.^^

Okay, that makes me feel better. I just hate ta bug people, so.. yeah. Glad I'm giving you ideas.=) But the sudden rash of deaths really was wierd. But nothing like that has happened since then or before it.
We also gotta cat who is grey but has gold spots all over her side. When me and my cousins were goofin off several years ago when we liked to invent goofy kids games and the cat was quite young we used her as a queen in our game due to her gold coloring. Which was really odd considering we never had any like that before. But her name Queenie stuck.=) Although I actually ain't seen her recently. I'll have to keep my eye's open. Anyway, she had a black cat with the same gold spots. We didn't have a black cat at that time so I'm wondering where she ran off to...

Oh, they run off! When they come into season, it's an amazing thing! Their scent attracts every male within an enormous radius and cats you didn't even know were there come out of the woodworks. But, what's really interesting is that a cat can become pregnant by several different males and in a single pregnancy, can bear kittens from multiple fathers.

Yeah, you must know a lot about cats then.XD It makes since because a young male who we'd had for a long time all of a sudden dissappeared and a year or so later I was riding with my Dad along a road not far from my house and I seen a cat that looked just like him. (No doubt it probably was!) And he was surrounded by 3 or 4 other cats. All rubbin agaisnt him. I now figure that they were a bunch of girls and I now know why he ran off.XD We also had a stupid black tom from somewhere else come in and freeload our food and beat up on our males. All the cats who just show up are usually skinny, and hang out all the time. He wasn't nowhere near skinny, and dissapered half the time. He obveously had a home already and was freeloading. We had to get him to stop coming.

*giggles* Well, cats are amazingly smart! If they can find a free meal, they'll take it and take it and keep taking it until it's no longer given Of course, the reason why he was disappearing could have also been because he was the dominant tom in the area and was going off to "take care" of receptive females. But, if he was very large, then it is more likely than not that he had a home and was indeed freeloading *giggles*

I think he WAS pretty much just "taking care" of our females. But I don't give a darn if'n he was the dominant tom in the area. I'll kick his rear! XD You see, I wanna make our cats one big happy family. But I can't do that very well if'n their too busy scratching each others faces off. I'm fighting a losing war. Although I wouldn't think several of our cats are very much off a challenge. I mean, a lot off times their nearly fully grown, and still trying to nurse on their mother! Actually we used(although I don't want to believe it yet. Tho I fear it's true) to have a cat that was a "Lousy" mom when she was younger. I mean, she would like abandon her kittens. Several died. But after she was much older she kinda became the official "nanny" of our group because she would half raise everybody else's babies. I guess she finally got the hang of it and liked it.

It happens sometimes. Females can bear young when they're only a few months old, as early as even 5 mo.'s. If this happens, the female is without much experience and will often be a terrible mother in the process. It takes time for her to learn the proper mothering skills. She has it in her to do it, but it does take time for it to emerge. The same can be said for toms. They can mate at about the same age, yet although they know the mechanics...they...don't always get their mark, if you know what I mean ^_^; It takes time for them to be the best toms that they can be, too

I lost my respect for male dominant-type toms when my Dad said when I was younger that sometimes to prevent having a risk later they would kill male kittens or somethin like that. I got nothing wrong with males tho. But I've got to admit it makes me laugh when I think about when I've been doing something outside and the males are close to me roaring at each other, bugging the tar outta me, and I yell at them at the top of my lungs to "shutup!" And they just flat out ignore me.XD

Hmm...I'm not sure about that. I do know that it is very common for male lions, for example, to kill off ALL the cubs in a pride he has just taken over to induce the females of the pride to come into estrus so that he can mate with them and they will bear his cubs. He simply doesn't have time to babysit and protect some other male's offspring. His time at the top of the pride is limited so he has to do whatever he can do to ensure that his genes are dispersed. He's not discriminant about who he kills off, though. He kills all the children of nursing age, male and female.

In so far as male dealings, the only thing that I have heard is that when males are of breeding age, the dominant male will chase them off...sort of like a father kicking his 18 year old son out of the house. He doesn't want to entertain the notion of inbreeding (which can happen) so he gives them the boot and they go off in life on their own. If memory serves me correctly, the females are permitted to stay, but I could be wrong about that, too. I'm not saying that your father's not right. He could totally be correct, it's just news to me, is all

I have no idea. But whether he was right or not I still don't like 'em pickin' on my Rascal(the timid one). Every chance he gets he tries to get in the house when we have the door open.XD My Mom has let him in for like a minute a couple times. But now he wants to be in longer so he tries on his own.

Nawww, he'll get over it. Anyway, he couldn't hangout with other kitties that way.XD Just thought of somethin else that happened once... attack of the killer mouse! An advantage of a lotta cats is we don't have a real bad mouse problem. But one mouse Dad seen, (I didn't see this, I was inside... I sure wish'd he'd called me!) But a mouse literally started fighting the cats, they was close to him, coming at him, but he leapt right into the cat. Biting and clawing. Even when that cat kinda backed off there was a cat just watching it. The mouse just jumped up to it and bit it on the face. The cat was kinda stunned, then it literally raised his/her paw and just wacked the mouse a few times. Just up and down swiptly, square on the mouse. Finally the mouse finally got too weak, and thats when I decided to check on Dad, found him leaning against a vehicle watching the cats intently. I'm like, "What are you doing??"
"Watching these cats kill a mouse.." He sounded rather in thought.
"Oh joy. What's the big deal, it ain't nothin new?"
"No this was different..." He told me the story. I wished he'd told me to come outside, but by time we got out it probably woulda been over with. But still.XD

WOW! That sounded almost like how the rats are here in the city! Rats, being bigger than mice, will OFTEN fight back against cats, dogs, birds and even people! If you back a rat into a corner, you'd better be wary because they sort of go berserk in a last ditch effort to save their own life! ...they just give it everything they've got until they have nothing left.

I wish I 'd seen it so bad.XD *whine* I'll get over it.
Yeah, that's another thing my Dad told me. Corner a rat or a (I forgot what.. I think it was like a badger, groundhog.. somethin of that nature anyway), they will put up the fight of their life to the death. Or.. the win. Depends on what their up against. One thing that alway's amazed me(Tho it really shouldn't) was that if a cat gets bit by a poisonous snake ..it croaks. (Which is highly unlikely cause of their quick reflexes) But if it eats it, it's perfectly fine. Because of the fact the poison isn't directly injected into the bloodstream is my best guess. Do you know why?

That's actually it, if I'm not mistaken! When a snake bites you, it's injecting its venom DIRECTLY into the bloodstream...not bypassing anything, it's a direct injection. However, if you eat said snake, poison and all, what happens is the poison goes into the stomach where the acids break it down and dilute its toxicity. Moreover, from there, the body selects what it wants to go where. What will be converted to energy, what goes into the blood, etc. and what isn't needed is expelled through the waste process Of course, in theory, if the cat had lacerations in its mouth, then the poison could theoretically seep in through there and the cat would still die.

Sounds like an awesome idea there, Kitt. (wow, it sounds weird calling someone else that.. That's the name I usually go by, except I only have one 't' in mine.) I hope you do really well with it, and maybe even get it published one day!

Oh wow! You're Kit, too? (hey, you're right! It IS weird calling someone else that ^_^; ) Anyway, thanks a bunch! It's still just a baby idea right now. I can see story ideas and notions...but I can't take them anywhere yet without characters and I'm not sure which direction I want to take the characters. They won't be on all fours, that much I do know, but, I'm hung up on whether or not to:

1. Make them walk upright, nude, but with no visible genitals or breasts

or

2. Make them walk upright with clothes and hair with anatomy that would be visible if unclothed.

Well you could either go the Brian Jacques route ala 'Redwall' (or if you've never seen that, think Mrs. Frisby and the rats of NIMH), and have them both walking upright and with no visible 'stuff' and wearing clothing, or you could go the traditional 'Anthro' style and basically give them a human anatomy with fur and animal features (muzzle, ears, tail, fur, eye shape, etc..) It's completely up to you. Personally I like both styles equally, so it doesn't matter to me.

I'd suggest making a couple practice sketches in both styles, just so you can get a visual of what it would look like, and decide from there. And if you're still unsure, you could make a 'poll' journal, asking for people to vote for their favorite style.
