New Icon Contest + dA Group Changes
Greetings cubs! Cody here. I've been thinking on this idea for a while now and I think it's time we finally put it to action. TheCubbyCorner has been around for nearly two years now (and much longer under different names if you know our history) and we've had the same icon since the beginning. Funny as it is, the icon was only meant to be a temporary one and it stuck! Now that we've had the same one for so long it's high time we thought about freshening things up with a new one, so why not make it a drawing contest?
Starting today we are going to have a contest to draw the new icon that will represent TheCubbyCorner moving forward. Anybody can participate and you are free to submit up to three icon designs. The icon needs to usable on both fa and dA, so please make sure your icon looks good at both 100x100 and 100x50 resolution. The contest will run for three weeks, ending March 9th, after which a vote will be held by admins to decide the winners. The first place winner of the contest will have their icon used to represent TheCubbyCorner indefinitely and the top three picks will each get a single character request drawn by me (Cody). In order to submit to the contest, your picture needs to be posted on dA and submitted to the "New Icon Contest" folder. If you are unsure of how to submit to groups on dA ask an admin and they'll be happy to assist you.
So that's it for the contest stuff, on to some changes we'd like to announce. Our group gallery on deviantArt is....sparse, to put things lightly. We've never had a solid grasp of what the group there should accomplish and it's mostly just been around for show. We would like to liven things up by accepting submissions that feature chat regulars. What can we say, you have beautiful faces and we want to show them off to the world! If you have a picture of yourself or somebody from chat you'd like to share, we encourage you to submit your picture into the group Feature folder. My intention with this is to make the TCC group on dA a hub for TCC community art. The FurAffinity group was intended to be and shall remain a way of outreaching to the cub community at large, and we'd now like to start making use of the group on dA is well, both for outreach and collaboration of art.
That's it for now! Thanks for reading and we look forward to seeing some potential new icons!
