For those out there who are considering using fursuits as their only source of income. Here are some questions for you guys.
Do you think that you can be 100% financially stable, pay for food, gas, all of your bills, and still have a little left over to live off of? If your answer is 'yes' then let's continue.
What do you have going for you? Anything more stable than the guesswork of "am I going to get a commission?"
Let's jump to a different subject quickly. Money. Who out here has a few hundred dollars or a few thousand dollars that they can just spend at any moment on a fursuit- raise your hand if you do. Comment and tell us if you do/don't.
Ok, the economy is heading south and people are holding onto what they have so they can just LIVE off of it. What happens when a lot of your customers WANT to buy from you, but can't due to financial issues? A lot of you say 'I don't wana hear comments like "I don't have the money"'. What if people truly don't? Because they don't have the money, they can't buy a costume from you. If costuming is your ONLY source of income, how does that affect you?
I know a person right now who works two jobs, goes to school, and does fursuits and that person STILL has a hard time with bills and everything. They're just barely making it.
Now that's someone with two other jobs on top of fursuits, you're just using fursuits because you don't need any kind of job right?
Let's say you have a mate. Ok, can your mate provide for both you and themselves? Can they cover the cost of their bills, your bills, and then some just so you can live let alone eat? Will there be any money left over for savings or for things like going out to see a movie? Do they have a stable enough job to provide for you both?
If the answer is 'no my mate doesn't even have a job' then where does that leave you? You can't rely on your mate at all, so you're once again relying only on fursuits.
I'm not saying you guys can't make it, I'm just asking you questions that are important and that you really need to think about before you jump out there and say "WORLD I NEED NO JOB, FOR I HAVE A FURSUIT BUSINESS! :D"
How about you fursuit builders that are moving somewhere soon? Do you guys have enough money to pay for whatever you're moving into PLUS all of your moving expenses? (Probably do- but that's probably all you have left is just enough to move and live off of for a little while.)
Lastly. Why is it people think I'm a downright asshole for asking questions like this? I specifically said if you can make it, congrats, but these are questions you need to sit down and think about before acting irrational.
I asked one person this, her boyfriend got all offended, and then she blocked me. Is that a good way to act? No.
Why did I ask these questions? I'd hate to see someone make an irrational move then go OOPS i can't pay my bills, I'm out of a job, I'm out of a house, and I haven't got any way to live.
Fursuits aren't always a stable job, especially for beginners.

Art/Fursuits full time would ruin it for me. It's only fun if you can do a couple at a time and work at your own pace as opposed to a bunch of suits or art that needs to be done in a really short amount of time @_@
But if you ask the older furs, ((not saying their old, but 'wiser", been around more than us)) a lot of them feel that the furry community has subcome to being a modern fashion victim... Look back 20 yeas ago... If you wanted one, you had to fucking make one. Period.
Kitt, I amend you for being in the hot seat, involuntary multiple times, and yet maintaining your best composure, even though it is hard at times... Just always remember, there will always be haters for their own selfish reasons. But if you stay cool, don;t curse, and kill em with your intelligence, you'll get very far one day. I can tell =^.^=

I posted to WTF_FA and took it down due to the furries not understanding a damn thing. ONE PERSON, one lonely little person in this world got it.
I submitted it for artists_beware as well.
He made an oops because he shows images on his account of him rebuilding her head and everything like that, then later when I'm like she's using his rebuild skills as an example, wtf? he got into the whole 'feel sorry for me' attitude and posted a comment saying the head he rebuilt was trashed. (Good for her that it's her own work, bad for both that no one stated specifically that the head was trashed and she made a new one herself.- Mistake made on both of their parts, which I can then take back the whole why is she using his work as an example issue.)
Instead of being a responsible adult, he decided to be an asshole, like he usually is. I'm not the only one to put up with his shit, nor is this the first time for me. He says he just acts that way because people call him one :\
Double posting is pointless and the favs given should be given to the original creator for their drawing, not because someone posted their drawing of a commission they got for this guy's character.
Thank you for bringing them up, I do hope they make people THINK.
-J (only makes suits for herself, I have a fantastic regular job)
What I'm saying is, you're so right. If we tried to get this place fursuiting? lol fail :(
On top of that, how many people around FA do you know are 'homeless' now because of how bad the economy is?
Hey, if the economy was booming and people had shit tons of money to play with, it'd work just fine. Picking a crisis time to do this though.......bad move >_<
I know nothing about fursuits. (and i mean nothing. lol ) But don't the materials themselves cost a good chunk of money? That in itself could cut into the possible profits to be made. and not to mention if you don't have the starting money to get the materials....then what? lol
Well hey, if the materials cost me less to create it, maybe I would. For the people who can afford to make a $200 head and sell it for $20, good for you, I'm not one of them.
The fur, the foam, the thread, the hot glue, the paint, everything you use costs money and it all adds up. You may THINK it's cheap until you add up receipts.
If i could afford it I would get a partial for myself. but.....minimum wage is not condusive to buying expensive stuff. lol
People just don't care for other people anymore.
"You don't need to pass an IQ test to be a senator. :D"
Taken from religiulous, the guy ended up interviewing a senator and stuff like that about his beliefs and made a comment that sparked the senator to say that there's no IQ test for the position. Sorry to say, the senator was the only person laughing after he said that.
You need an IQ test to be a postal worker, but not a senator. Who runs the country though?

but yeah poloticians can be stupid.
However........ I do pay you guys to do something, so it'd be nice if you actually did it X3 If I could, I'd stop paying them, but we have no control over that.
Example the hospitals- i'd rather pay them directly, same with road commission, and so on. If we paid into them directly, we wouldn't have the rich bastards sitting around doing diddly squat all day! Oh, i forgot, god forbid we take just $200 away from them- they're only millionaires to begin with but that loss of $200 will surely put a dent in their wallet right?
but the guy spent the money on the whole party and a few presents for himself.
Good luck finding enough folks out there on a regular basis to pay the bills.
