yaegashi is facing legally sanctioned bankruptcy. A former employer, a private school caught by the government doing something wrong, (Yaegashi isn't at liberty to discuss exactly what), is persecuting him for whistle-blowing. Apparently this is permissible because the private school was in Nevada, a "right to work" state. Even after Yaegashi moved from Las Vegas to Cleveland, Ohio, they're still pursuing him. Their latest move, when they seem to have heard that he was being considered for a position as a contract teacher, was to file charges of theft against him. No evidence of this theft was ever produced, but his lawyer advised him to go through a "deferment process." (I'm not sure what that is. It seems to involve being "on parole" until he pays a fine of some kind.) His lawyer promised he'd get his "deferment" reduced and be able to serve it from a new city. (The cost of living in Cleveland is too high for him.) His trial was yesterday; no reduction in the "fine," ($1,485), no transfer to a new city, (he'll have to drive six hours back to Cleveland every other month), and now there are court costs on top of the "fine." And on top of that, he can't work because he had a heart attack; his heart is only working at about 23% efficiency.

All in, yaegashi has to pay $3,500. He's taken an old GoFundMe campaign he'd made to sell his book and re-purposed it to raise money to pay off this deferment. Please, in the name of justice, help this persecuted kitty.
