Just don't be like my friend Alan, and leave your campaign after your third time playing.
As for my friend, I don't think he quit understood those two requirements? But he quite showing up after the third or fourth weekend we were playing, so somebody else in the group had to take over his character plus their own. By week 8 his character ended up getting killed in battle. He comes back a week after his character had been killed and he was all like, "I'm ready to play again guys!". Our DM at the time slid him a new character stats sheet, and a pencil and said, "Re-roll another character.". LOL
